Hi I'm Phil Bussey

I grew up in California. I'm a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love to water-ski and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 61 years old. I grew up in Porterville, CA in the middle of the San Juaquin Valley. I have been married 39 years to an amazing woman. I recently retired as a Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer for a private energy company. I play the guitar and generally love music of all kinds. I enjoy riding my motorcycle (Harley), playing golf and I water-ski as much as possible. I am a father of three children and a grandfather of two beautiful grandchildren. I came to Washington state over 38 years ago so it's home for me. I love the green, the mountains and the rain!

Why I am a Mormon

My mother joined the Mormon faith when I was younger so I attended with her and my sisters. Even though I attended as a youth, I had to gain my own personal witness and belief in the truthfulness of this gospel. I have continued to pursue additional witness and testimony through prayer, daily scripture study and obedience to the teachings offered. While there have been times when my understanding hasn't been complete, there has never been a time I have not found additional strength, protection and inspiration through my worship. I feel very comfortable with my faith and beliefs and for me they are true. More than anything, I find the teachings and directions offered in this faith align completely with the example and teachings of Jesus Christ who I desire to follow as a Christian.

How I live my faith

I've always been taught the importance of giving back so I have been involved in my community throughout my life. Currently, I on the boards of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and the Board of the Seattle Council of the Boy Scouts of America. I have always made church service a priority and have been blessed to serve in leadership positions through the years. I currently volunteer with our young missionaries. It is a fantastic opportunity to interact with fellow members of our faith and to help our faith grow and our Church expand. Locally, I also get the chance to visit and assist regularly two families in our congregation. All are amazing and I am honored to be a small part of their life. I live my life in a way that I hope patterns the characteristics and attributes of Christ and Christianity at its fullest. I appreciate the good other faiths and organizations bring to society and our community and feel we can all learn from each other and appreciate the good in each person.
