Hi I'm Stephen

I'm a husband. I'm a father of three. I'm a university professor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of three beautiful children. My wife and I love to cook and spend time with our children. Our oldest just started first grade and we can't believe that he is so old! Our second child is a two year old girl who loves everything pink and frilly. The baby of the family is about to turn one year old and loves to get into everything around the house. I teach economics and statistics at a local university. While I'm sure my students don't think that those are the most exciting subjects, I do my best to make class fun and interesting. I love teaching, and I am always trying to be a more effective instructor. I grew up in a family of six children and love getting together with my siblings and their families. It doesn't happen very often because we all live so far apart. I know that who I am now is largely thanks to the family in which I was raised.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was born. So I have been member of the Church all my life. When I was about sixteen I remember reading in the Book of Mormon by myself. That particular day I was grumpy like teenagers often can be. As I read in the scriptures, those negative feelings disappeared. I lost track of time as I read and when I finally looked at a clock I was surprised how much time had past. I was even more surprised at the peace that filled my heart. That experience and many others have given me the knowledge that the Book of Mormon is true. I am a Mormon because being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives my life purpose and direction. I know why I am here on this earth. I know that this life has a purpose. I know that living prophets walk the earth today like they did anciently. I can't imagine life without blessings I have received from my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ. I don't know what I would do without these blessings as I confront the challenges and disappointments that come with life.

How I live my faith

I am an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I attend the three hours of church services every Sunday. I also think it is important as a father to teach my children about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have a weekly "Family Home Evening" where we spend time reading in the scriptures and talking about ways that we can follow our Savior. I feel that I was greatly blessed to have grow up in such a wonderful family, and I want to help give my children some of the same blessings. Our Church teaches that the family relationships can last forever. This knowledge helps me to put my wife and children at the highest priority in my life. There aren't many things we can take with us after we die, but I know that our family relationships can last forever.
