Hi I'm Nate

I belong to a multi-faith family. I live in the Northwest and love to get out and enjoy the beauty here. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 5. My wife and I started our family very young but it's been a great blessing in our life. I enjoy flyfishing, spending time with with the children and my wife, getting out on bike trails and walking together, and playing sports. I graduated with dual undergraduate degrees in 2002 in both Psychology & Sociology and love to learn about people. I'm currently pursuing my MBA from Seattle University. I work with a major financial firm as a certified financial planner and find great satisfaction in assisting people acheive their financial goals.

Why I am a Mormon

I was mostly raised without religous affiliation. My mother is Buddhist and is a wonderful person. My sister is Baptist and she and her husband live their religion faithfully. It's been a great blessing to have them in my life. I was very light hearted and lacked religous interest in my youth, although when very young I had some religious affiliation with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Those early feelings stayed with me through all of my teenage years even though I became somewhat anti religion at times during that formative period. When my wife and I married and began to discuss family the feeling of being somewhat lost and without direction greatly impacted me and I felt like I needed something stronger to hold onto. I decided to begin reading the Book of Mormon again to see if I could rekindle some of the feelings I had experienced as a child. As I read it's pages, contemplated my own future, what I wanted out of my family, what the Lord would want me to become, I became overwhelmed with a feeling of gratitude for the Lord's patience with me and developed a strong desire to serve him more fully. As I read through the passages in the Book or Mormon I came to 3 Nephi chapter 17 and couldn't help but envision what it must have been like to be on the earth at the time, experience the love the Savior has for each of us, and to watch him bless the children with such profound compassion. It was a great testimony builder for me as the spirit helped provide a confirmation that what I was reading was truly inspired and occurred. Although, my overall conversion was very gradual, that experience, and especially that scripture, has always had great personal meaning in my life and I have been a faithful member ever since which has now been some 13-14 years.

How I live my faith

I serve in my church by helping to coordinate activities of the leaders, especially meetings that occur, planning schedules for members that need assistance, teaching and edifying my neighbors by way of sharing gospel messages and assisting physically with various demands of life. My faith impacts every aspect of my life whether I'm with my family, at work, participating in sports or just being around others.
