Hi I'm Patsy

I'm a Mormon. Wife, mother of nine children, gram to 9 and counting...

About Me

I am married and have been a "stay at home mom" while I raised our children. My educational background is in teaching elementary age children. I have taught classes in drama, cooking, science and math in a parent partnered public school program. I have 7 sons and 2 daughters. Four of my children are married and have wonderful children of their own. One more just recently married. My seven sons have all served missions for the church. Four in the United States, one in Mexico, one in Ecuador and one in The Dominican Republic. One of my daughters graduated from Law School and the other graduate from BYU in Communication Disorders and is currently in Brazil serving a mission for the church. My favorite things to do are cook, be with my grandchildren, work on family history, various crafts, read and be an active member of my family and church.

Why I am a Mormon

My Grandfather on my father's side was the first member in his family to join the church and my mother was the first of her family to join. I was brought up in the church. This might give the impression that I didn't have any choice but, the little town (2,000) that I lived in was only about 1% "mormon", and I had to figure out early if I was going to live the principles and believe the doctrines of the church. I was challenged many times as I grew up. I would talk to my school friends and try to answer questions about why I wouldn't drink, who was Joseph Smith or why I had a different bible. This led me to study and gain my own testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. I know that Jesus Christ is the son of our Heavenly Father. I know that He came to earth to atone for our sins and give us the opportunity for eternal life. I know that the reason I don't drink is because the Lord gave us instructions concerning the care of our bodies. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and restored the gospel in these latter days. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and along with the Bible is another testimony of the divinity of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I am happy to be a member of His church.

How I live my faith

To me, being "Mormon" is a way of life. It is a daily guide for me and my family. I read the scriptures and say my prayers daily. I have served my community by being active in the school system and volunteering for service projects. I served in the Boy Scouts of America for 15 years as Eagle advancement chairman, watching many young men gain this highest honor in scouting and challenging them to live up to its standards. I taught early morning scripture study classes for 5 years. I have served in leadership in the women's, youth and children's programs of our church. This includes organizing activities and religious instruction. I have helped in the organizing and have attended the girls camp program in our area for many years. I am currently working with the young women ages 12-18 years old. This keeps me busy and happy.
