Hi I'm Ray Schumacher

I'm a Mormon. I'm a recent convert to the church and I have a strong testimony of this church already.

About Me

I'm an electrician and have a family of five. My wife and I have three kids, one boy and two girls. Ages 16, 13, and 7 respectively. We live in a small town and like the peacefull outdoor setting our home provides. We are very humble and don't need much to get by on. I like to hunt and work on my autos and ride motorcycles. We love to camp and go new places we've never seen before. I love having a job to go to and the time to do things with my family when I get the time off. I've been in the Navy, had several different kinds of jobs since then and found myself as being an agnostic. I just didn't see any reallity in the whole God thing.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon because I kept seeing things happen around the world that were prophesied of for centuries. A spark was lit and when I started to research Joseph Smith I knew right then I was going to go in the right direction. One day my wife asked me if I would like to go to church with her and I said yes. We have only missed one Sunday since then. That was almost a year ago. Since then, I have gained a strong testimony of the church and the gospel. My testimony is that the church tells us of all the things we must do to obey the words of our prophets and those words come from God. All those things you can find right in the scriptures. If I couldn't find these things in the scriptures I may begin to question their validity. I put my faith in no man but only the word of God and the atonement of Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by teaching families in my ward about the message of the month from our prophet or his councelors. It gives me time to visit with those families at their homes and help tend to needs they may have that any of the other members could help with. We work as a family in the ward and as individual families at home. I live my faith also by participating in teaching our youth at the church how to grow up and be successful and how to be good husbands and fathers. How to provide for their wives and children. I live my faith also by making sure my kids grow up being responsible and taking care of their spouses and children.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Ray Schumacher
The members are called to serve the congregation without being paid only to serve the Lord by serving his children. The Bishop leads his church and also is not payed. His time like the other members with callings is voluntary and unpaid. This is the way to show a true devotion to God and Christ. Christ was not payed to preach the gospel. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

Ray Schumacher
Mormons believe that family is the most important thing on this earth. With the love of our heavenly father we will teach our kids to become strong minded and healthy individuals that are willing to serve others as is needed. The husbands and wives serve each other as equal partners and the husband is the head of his household. We believe that we can be sealed to our earthly family for eternity and live in heaven with our Lord together. Show more Show less
