Hi I'm Bob

I grew up in California, Alaska, New York, Florida, and Tennessee. My wife & I have 8 children, 19 grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My brother and I traveled a lot while we were growing up and attended a variety of protestant churches. I graduated in electrical engineering and had a career in that field for over 35 years. During that time I married and we had 8 children and, at this time have 19 grandchildren. It was in college that I discovered the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and came to realize this was the church I had been praying for much of my life to find. I am now retired from engineering and pursuing my interest in the area of personal development and providing material online to help others develop their full potential. Along with my wife, we enjoy music, singing, the outdoors, and keeping up with our growing family.

Why I am a Mormon

As I was growing up, I would often take walks, talking with Heavenly Father as if he were walking right there with me. On many of these walks, I would ask his help in various challenges I had ... or just for his answer to questions that came to my mind. One question I asked frequently was, "Which church would you have me join?" ... thinking that, if he had a preference, I wanted to know what it was. Growing up, my family were members of various Protestant denominations. One afternoon, while attending college, I noticed the picture of an Indian chief on one of the campus bulletin boards, with the caption, "Did you know the Indians originated in Jerusalem?" This really got my curiosity up, so I wrote my name and phone number on one of the slips of paper provided, and was contacted by a couple missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As I was taking their discussions, I felt it all made sense and decided to join their church. Over a period of the first year after joining, I received more answers to questions I could find nowhere else, and witnessed things that "made" me realize that this was the church I had been praying for to find ... and I was already a member! Ever since, my testimony has been growing. I am so thankful that I was born in this day and time (the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times) when the Gospel has been restored once again to the earth ... and to be a part of assisting in that restoration!

How I live my faith

I am a member of Toastmasters, one of the best organizations for learning communication and leadership skills. I have also been a leader in the Boy Scouts program, enjoying the opportunity to work with boys, helping them learn skills that will enable them to "meet" life better prepared. In the church, I have served in a number of callings, leaning something new from each opportunity while, at the same time, serving my fellow church members. Through these callings I have worked with children, youth and adults at various times. This is one of the things I most like about the church ... is that every active member has the opportunity to serve in one capacity or another ... and each calling is another opportunity for personal growth and of service.
