Hi I'm Brent

I grew up in Ogden, Utah and served in the United States Navy for nearly 27 years, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a dad and a grandpa. I spent nearly 27 years in the U.S. Navy. I love to hunt, fish, and go camping, and I have a passion for family history research. I'm also kind of a technology geek and I really love to experiment with the latest gadgets and figure out how they can help me in my everyday life. I've lived all over the country and have visited many foreign lands.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in Utah a member of the church from the beginning. I enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 and kind of fell away from activity in the church for about 10 years until I met my future wife. She was not a member at the time and she was searching for something. When our first child was born, a daughter, we felt the tuggings of the spirit and were prompted to contact a Bishop in the area we lived and asked him to send the missionaries over. My wife learned anew and I relearned the principals I had been taught growing up as the missionaries taught us. We felt the spirit of the Lord in our home and knew that this is what we needed and had been missing in our lives all along. I baptized her a short time later and we continue to feel the blessings of that decision over thirty years later. We haven't had a perfect life since that day... we've been faced with many trials of our faith and life challeges just like most people. The gospel of Jesus Christ is what has pulled us together as a family though and helped us weather these storms of life.

How I live my faith

I've been involved with the Boy Scouts of America since I was a cub scout myself. This has carried over into my adult life and I have had many opportunities as I traveled the county in the Navy to participate with my boys and as an adult leader and as a father. I enjoy working with and teaching the youth in our church... it helps keep me young and allows me the opportunity to help children who may not have a father in their home either in the short term, due to military deployements, or long term situations.
