Hi I'm Vanessa

Hi, I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. I'm a nurse by profession and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Nurse and worked for the United States Army for 20 years. I am a mother of 2 and a grandmother of 10 and a great-grand mother of 1. I live in Washington State and have a great view of Mount Rainier. I went to College in Dayton, Ohio. I married my sweetheart of 33 years in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1974. We traveled the world with the U.S. Army and were remarried in the Frankfurt, Germany Temple in 1991.

Why I am a Mormon

I was in College in 1974 and met a girl that was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She would drive to my house ever day and pick me up and then would drive to our college. I asked her why she did this and she said "If we don't take care of each other, who's going to?" She was different than any one I had ever met and had a glow about her that I wanted to have in my own life. I started to let my son go to Primary which is another name for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Sunday School for children, and he asked me one day to come and go to church with him. I had been sending him to a different church on Sunday’s, so I assumed that this was the Church he ment. I was wrong and he proceeded to tell me so, "Wrong Church mommy". So the next Sunday, I took him to the LDS Church and began to see such a love that men had for their children and their wives, that I knew that this was a special place. I started taking the lessons from the Missionaries. I continued to go to the LDS Church and was baptized a short time later. I've been a member of the LDS Church for 34 years and would not change my choice for anything. I have grown to love my Lord and Savior so much and am such a different person from the one who started this journey so many years ago.

How I live my faith

About 18 months ago my husband and I were given the opportunity to house the LDS Missionaries for a 2 year period. It has been a great experience having these young men in our home. We have gone to baptisms and given talks during these life changing events. We prayed with these special agents of the Lord, for those learning about the Gospel. I've always been involved with the Missionaries through out the world and have supported each and everyone of them, as they have taught the Gospel in many languages. I have watched new members of the LDS Church grow in their love of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and how their lives have changed for the better because of their commitment to Jesus the Christ. The old person within them has changed to a new person that I know and they found out that loves them very much. What a wonderful change has come into my life that I have also shared with my family and friends.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The Missionaries will teach you about the Restoration of the Gospel, how to increase your faith in Jesus Christ, how to repent, the proper mode of baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and how to endure to the end. Show more Show less
