Hi I'm Karla

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have been married now for thirty-one years. We have ten beautiful children, six sons and four daughters. We have ten grandchildren, with three on the way. I love being with my family, reading from the scriptures and praying together, visiting, working, doing family projects, playing games, having parties, loving, laughing and having lots of fun! I love personal daily scripture study, pondering and prayer! I exercise five to six days a week. During the hot months I play racquetball inside. During the cooler months I prepare for running half marathons or triathlons. I love to get my heart pumping and those endorphins flowing through me! I love studying physical, emotional and spiritual health and implementing the things I learn into my own life and sharing them with others. I love getting to know new people! I’ll strike up conversations wherever I go and hope that a kind word can lighten their world! It is my hope and prayer that as I share my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I can kindle hope and faith in others. As I witness the light and truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ change people's lives, my heart soars!

Why I am a Mormon

I Am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior! He has organized apostles and prophets to teach and lead His children today. All of the keys to Christ’s true and living church have been restored to the earth, as in former times. I have been baptized and given the gift of the Holy Ghost by one having His priesthood authority. Because of the restoration of Christ’s church, I have been sealed to my family for all eternity in a holy temple of God. I am so thankful for God’s great plan of Happiness! Through Christ’s atonement the way has been made for everyone to have great peace, joy and love in this life and the next! I have felt the promptings of the Holy Spirit in my life, directing me in the things I should do. I have also felt the sweet peace that the Spirit brings through the hardest times of my life. My sister died of leukemia in 1990, and knowing that I could be with her again, and that though her body had died, her spirit lived and was happy and finally at peace, brought such comfort to my soul. I have felt her spiritual presence from time to time. I know she lives! I love her and know the day will come that I will see her again!

How I live my faith

Every Sunday when I go to church I teach the young children all kinds of beautiful music about the gospel of Jesus Christ. My favorites are about the Savior, and how He loves us! I feel like as the messages from these songs enter the children’s hearts, it sets such a solid foundation of well-being and sureness that each child is loved and cared for by God. I find myself singing the songs throughout the week. They give me hope and peace as I feel the richness of their message! I enjoy public speaking and have taught over the pulpit for many large and small meetings, testifying of the Savior and His great work. I have worked in many women’s and youth organizations as well as with the children. I have led and sung in the church choir. I have helped up at girl’s camps as well as many long hikes, which I love! I have helped organize many activities, parties, and festivals! Every month my nineteen-year-old daughter and I visit a few of the other woman from our church in their homes and give them a gospel message, and check to see if there is anything we can do for them. I also have woman that come to visit me and check to see how I am doing. It is so good to know whenever I need an extra helping hand, or someone to share my thoughts with, I always have a friend to call! I believe in serving in the community and just this past weekend some friends and I carried out a successful blood drive for the community. I have worked on the parent organization of my children’s schools as well as in the classrooms. I love my Savior, and ponder the things of God throughout the day, always trying to keep a prayer in my heart, and reaching out with love to others! I am not always successful at reaching all of my goals and keeping all of my thoughts where I want them to be, but through my Savior, I know that I am constantly being strengthened to do things I could never do without Him. He lifts me, teaches me and most importantly, loves me!
