Hi I'm Kirsten

I'm a Utahn, an Arizonan, an Ohion and a Washingtonian. I'm an athlete. I'm a journalist. I'm a mom. I'm a traveler. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Salt Lake City and went to Brigham Young University, but have lived all over, Arizona, Washington, Ohio, New York, Washington D.C. and Jerusalem. I was a newspaper and television reporter and columnist. And now I'm a mom of three - one supersmart boy and two girls - one serene and one rough and tumble. I love to travel, and have been to Europe, Mexico, Canada, the Middle East and North Africa.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, but have my own conversion story. I was struggling with some concerns I had during college while studying in the Holy Land. Where did I fit in? Where was I going? I found a quiet place and knelt in prayer to ask Heavenly Father for comfort and a knowledge that the church was the true gospel. I had an overwhelming feeling of peace come over me. And I knew. Throughout my life, I've had testimony after testimony, and blessings after blessings come from my belief in the truthfulness of the gospel.

How I live my faith

I attend church every week with my family. I serve my fellow church members. My most favorite responsibility I've had at church was teaching the children ages 3-12 music and singing. Such rambunctious and joyous little voices can truly invite the spirit of heaven into the room. I've also taught from the Old and New Testament, along with the Book of Mormon and other holy scripture. My children love that we set aside one night every week for family time - scriptures, singing, games and, of course, a treat. The church has provided me so many opportunities I would not have had otherwise. I've traveled the world, met and worked with amazing people, encountered folks I would not have know in other circumstances.
