Hi I'm James

I'm a Husband, Father of Five, Business owner, and I converted to the Church when I was 31. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Colorado since I was 10 years old. I have a beautiful wife and we are the parents of 5 wonderful children. Two are now married, one soon to be married, one in junior high, and our youngest is in elementary school. With my wife I own & operate several local businesses in which we spend most of our time. When I have any spare time I enjoy spending it with my family. We love to eat out the most, go boating, camping, and on trips together.

Why I am a Mormon

I converted to the Church and was Baptized when I was 31 years old. I was a single father helping to raise my son. I had a very successful business. I was lonely, confused, sad with life and the ways of the world. This was at a time when charities were only allocating 1% of donations for the cause and some religious leaders were using funds for their own personal gain such as buying air conditioned dog houses for their pets. One day I looked up to heaven and asked God, "Is this it? I just get old, rich & die?" I looked at all religion as businesses that were out to make profits. I had many questions about God & religion that I needed answers to. I asked & I searched to no avail. Then one day I had a co-worker tell me about the Mormon Church. She told me of a loving Heavenly Father who hears & answers our prayers. She told me that Jesus Christ Church was re-established on the earth today the same as it was when He walked the earth. She told me of a Church that has a lay clergy where in no one is paid to serve and all donations are allocated to help the needy and for the building up of the Kingdom of God. She told me of a Church that is all about Family and doing good in the world today. I married that lovely lady who told me about the Church. I now see the joy in life and look at it as a adventure!

How I live my faith

I find that simple acts of service help me to feel whole. I try to serve where ever I am needed. I find joy in serving my Wonderful Family, Friends, Neighbors, Fellow Church Members and in being a worthy servant of my Heavenly Father. I currently am called to be a Ward Mission Leader & I am blessed to help teach Gospel Essentials class every Sunday. Our class consists of current members of our faith and Individuals who are investigating our religion & want to know the teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ.

What is being a Mormon like?

It's Awesome! One of the greatest reasons for being here on earth is to "have joy" (2 Nephi 2:25). Personal prayer, scripture study, and attending church helps us better understand that the best way to find joy and happiness in this life is to know about Our Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to strive to keep God's "law" (Proverbs 29:18). Families are an essential part of God's Plan and much of how we live focuses on our families. We want to share the happiness we enjoy with everyone we can through service, missionary work, and contributing to society. Show more Show less
