Hi I'm Edith

I have lived in San Jose, CA, NY, NY and now Colorado. I love swimming, skateboarding and snowboarding, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the church, but I don't think I really fully understood the blessings of the atonement until I started seminary, when I was 14. I truly love my family and I could not ask for a better Mother and Father, but around 18 I kind of fell off the deep end. I was hanging out in places that did not allow me to feel the spirit, and I was doing harmful things to my body and mind. The worst part about that time in my life was that I know what it feels like to feel spiritually safe and comforted, and I continually chose to shut the Savior out of my life. I went to College at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and studied Graphic Design. While I was there I made some wonderful, colorful friends. When I did not get accepted to continue school for my bachelors degree I took a year off and went home to Syracuse, NY where I spent some time working, and developing a closer relationship with my family. I am now studying Equine Science at Colorado State University, and I feel like this might be the first good decision I have made in years. I am surrounded by wonderful people and continually seeking to fill my life with good, worthwhile things.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon..above all because I choose to be. I struggled a lot with the thought that I might be 'brainwashed' as many people have alluded that children are in the mormon church. If I did not want to go to church I wouldn't. I truly believe in the healing power of the atonement and personally testify of the genuine love that Jesus Christ has for each individual. I have met an array of strong spirits in my life, and I relish the time that I get to spend studying the guiding words that Heavenly Father has given to us through the Holy Scriptures, and through our beloved prophet Thomas S. Monson. How kind our God is that he listens to our prayers, that he holds us when we ask, chastens us when it is needed, and lifts us up when we are downtrodden.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being who I am, I guess. Today in my history class we were talking about Mormons in the post Reconstruction Era, and I knew it was coming because I had seen it on our list of topics for the day. When we came to it, and people had questions about the church today I didn't even think twice before saying I'm actually Mormon, I think I might be able to explain a few things... Until 80 or so students were all swivelling around in their chairs to look at me as I described my faith. I can't seem to help myself.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Edith
I think the church is growing.. because it makes sense. I think that everyone that hears about our values wants to live that way. Something inside of everyone urges them to be better, to seek out the light in the world, and that's what the church is. light. Show more Show less
