Hi I'm Jon

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of three kids. I am a patent lawyer and I love that my work allows me to learn about new technologies. I enjoy learning about the Soviet Union and Russian culture and history. I enjoy playing volleyball and racquetball. Even though I hate to run, I recently trained for and ran a half marathon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I feel at peace when I learn and live the gospel of Jesus Christ. At home, I study about Christ’s gospel by myself and with my family. At church, I learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ from others and I share my thoughts and feeling with others. Having the opportunity to learn about the gospel in so many different ways gives me a deeper understanding and strengthens my commitment to following our Savior. Learning about Christ’s gospel helps me to be a better person. When I learn about some aspect of Christ’s gospel, I find ways that I can better myself in some area of my life. I am frequently inspired as to how I can be a better parent to my children, a better companion to by wife, a better employee at work, and a better person in general. I like the person that I am and that I am becoming by following Christ's teachings. Learning about Christ’s gospel also provides me with peace and certainty in a world that is filled with turmoil and confusion. My faith allows me to know that God has a plan for each of us to be happy. Even when life is difficult, I can have peace knowing that this is part of God’s plan and his plan leads to happiness.

How I live my faith

I strive to spend my time helping others. I served a full-time mission when I was younger and I loved being able to dedicate all of my time to serving others. Now I am married, I have three kids, and I have a busy job. I try to set aside quality time every day to spend with my kids and my wife. When I’m not working or spending time with my family, I try to spend my time helping others, especially the other members of my congregation. The church provides me with many opportunities to help other people. When I take those opportunities to help others, I feel closer to our Savior because he spent his life serving others and He eventually made the ultimate sacrifice by giving His life for each of us.
