Hi I'm Roger

I am an electrical contractor. I love to work, hike, swim, be with my kids and grandkids and I love music. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up the son of hardworking parents who worked in the fur industry. I learned to work by working with my Dad, oftimes before school, after school and before bed! My parents supported me in everything and encouraged me to do my best. I developed an interest in music and spent all of my school years in band, choir and in small jazz and popular music groups. I served a mission for two years in Italy and then attended a year of college, working nights to help pay my way. My teachers were very patient with me when I fell asleep in class, and though I did well in all my classes, I did not find anything that really called to me as a career. As a young married man, I asked my electrical contractor bishop to teach me how to be an electrician promising that I would work for peanuts. He took me at my word and I worked for minimum wage, but soon began to earn a good living as an electrician. I had found my niche in life and have been an electrical contractor for most of my adult life. I enjoy being with my family, working in my trade, spending time in the outdoors, listening to really good music and participating in church activities. I really enjoy reading and studying the writings of ancient and modern prophets.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always felt that God was out there and that He had influence over me. As a child I felt the truth in the scriptures of the Bible. I searched for a long time in my teenage years and even though I was a baptized member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I had to find out for myself that my faith was in the right things. I gained a testimony of the Gospel by searching the scriptures and prayer. I have learned that God truly answers prayers and that the Holy Ghost is a real person who conveys information to me from God. From my experiences in prayer and service, I have come to know that our Father in Heaven knows me and cares about what I am doing and experiencing. He has blessed me in great abundance throughout my life. I am the husband of a wonderful woman who is also a faithful believer in God. I have three amazing daughters, one fantastic son, three cool grandsons, three salt of the earth sons in law and several other wondeful inlaw relations. I have a strong testimony that God lives, Jesus is the Christ and is my savior, the Holy Ghost is real and counsels me when I am listening. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is filled with the authority and power of God and that the doctrine is true. I know that God reveals truth and his will to men today in the same manner that he did anciently...by revelation to prophets.

How I live my faith

I have served in many positions in the Church. One of the most joyous services was being a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in Southern Italy. As I went about searching for those who were seeking the truth, I would thrill with the privilege of bearing the good news of the restoration of the Lord's Gospel to people in Italy. I love to teach the Gospel because I find that when I do, I learn more than those that I am trying to teach! I am constantly humbled by the joy of being a husband, father and grandfather. I find a great deal of joy in giving service to others.
