Hi I'm Cory

I'm a medical student, I believe in God, I believe in the scientific method, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I want to know who I am and what my role is on this earth at this time. I want to understand how the universe works. I want to gain knowledge of why we are here and why things function the way they do. I believe we can unravel the mysteries of the universe. I believe God can give us those answers through the Spirit and I also believe He has given us the capacity to learn these things through the scientific method.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be. I also choose to believe in the scientific method. Ask yourself, is it a choice to subscribe to the scientific method? I choose to believe in the scientific method because through experimentation, we can obtain physical evidence of how the world works around us. I understand that our knowledge of the universe is imperfect, but I hope for a day when we can comprehend all things concerning our universe. I also choose to be Mormon because I believe I can try the Lord. I can experiment upon His word and I believe He will give me spiritual evidence that will give me more knowledge of His being. I understand that my knowledge of Him is imperfect, but I hope for a day when I can comprehend Him in all things. I have experimented upon the Lord's word and I have received spiritual evidence of God's existence and of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and its restoration on the earth today. That is my faith. That is what I choose to believe, and I believe it can bring the world greater happiness.

How I live my faith

I am a firm believer in a principle taught in John 17:3 which states, "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." God is not unknowable. He is not incomprehensible. We have the ability to comprehend Him because of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Lord would not have commanded us to be perfect like our Father in Heaven if it were not possible. This is why I have many questions concerning our time here on Earth. The questions I have stem from my desire to understand the universe around me and to understand God. I believe that gaining knowledge of one is also gaining insight to the other. God created our universe, therefore if we know God, if we comprehend what He comprehends, if we think how He thinks, and have His knowledge, we will understand the universe around us. I also believe that the reverse is true. If we learn more about our universe, we learn more about God. Many people believe that science and religion are mutually exclusive, but they are supporters of each other. The discrepancies between the two come from a lack of knowledge of our physical-spiritual universe. Thus, my greatest desire is to understand who God is. My faith is dedicated to understanding my God and my potential to become like Him. By understanding who He is, obtaining His knowledge, and choosing to live like Him, we fulfill the measure of our creation.

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

Cory
We believe that eternal life is living the quality of life that God lives with Him and our families for all of eternity. This includes receiving an immortal body that will never die and will never be susceptible to sickness and disease. In order to receive the blessing of living in God's presence with our families for all eternity requires much effort on our part. In order to receive this gift, we must be obedient to God's laws and ordinances of the Gospel. Show more Show less
