Hi I'm Kylee Shields
I have wanderlust, I'm a writer, I'm passionate about life. I like to make things happen! I'm a Mormon.
I am a 31 year old single LDS Mormon. I love life and try to live it to the fullest. I am passionate about people and especially love working with teenagers. I am an Adolescent Therapist and absolutely love what I do. I currently work at The Anasazi Foundation, a Wilderness Therapy Program. I get to go out on the trail and do my therapy sessions and I love every minute of it. I have travelled all over the world and love meeting new people and getting to know different cultures. I recently wrote a book, "Single, So What?" about being a single adult in the LDS Church and how to dig in and build the kingdom of God. Being single is hard at times but I am loving being part of a Ward family and living with wicked awesome roommates. My saving grace, at times, is playing the piano, writing music, swinging on swings, and spending time with my amazing family and friends.
I am Mormon because it makes sense not only to my mind but also to my heart. I am Mormon because when I have questions about doctrine or the scriptures I can get on my knees and ask God for clarification and through the spirit I can received personal revelation. I am Mormon because when i was 19 years old my 15 year old brother accidentally drowned and irrevocably changed my life forever. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teaches that families can be together forever—so not just in this life but for eternity. I cling to that and look forward with anticipation for the day I get to see my brother again! I am Mormon for many reason but most important and simply because I prayed and asked God if the church was true and he confirmed it to me!
I absolutely love working with the youth of the church! Years ago I taught religion in high school for teenagers ages 14-18 and then I was a Sunday School Teacher for the 16-17 year olds in my congregation (Family Ward). I have also worked with the youth of the church in an awesome summer program such as Especially For Youth (EFY), Humanitarian Experience For Youth (HEFY), in musical firesides, and as the Assistant Ward Camp Director for our girls camp (sort of like boys scout camps). About 3 years I co-founded a Performing Arts Non-Profit called, INSPIRE: music.service.hope where youth can come, sing, perform, build character, serve their community, and learn to serve and love one another. I believe in "raising expectations" and holding the bar high because I have seen the youth rise to those expectations. Being with the youth brings so much joy into my life.
