Hi I'm Mark

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

i am a father of 5 wonderful children, 4 amazing grandchildren and my amazing wife who I have been married to for over 30 years. some of our favorite things to do together include, traveling, family trips to Disneyland, on the lake with the family boat, up in the mountains skiing and relaxing with a bowl of popcorn and watching our favorite family movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a large family with 4 other brothers and my little sister. I was brought up in another faith and was taught about God and Jesus and that Sunday was a day we went to church. Just after starting my first year of college and while working to earn money to pay for school, I met a young man at my place of employment who was a Mormon and was earning money to pay for his mission. my initial impression of this young man was how happy he was all the time. I thought, "how can someone always be so happy and positive about everything. Over time my curiosity got the best of me and I began to ask him questions about his faith. THe more I asked the more curious I became. So much of what he said seemed to connect with my thinking about Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. The things we discussed were things I had always believed even though they were not taught to me at the church I attended at the time. In time I was introduced to Joseph Smiths first vision. When I read the account of that event I knew instantly that it was true. Not because this young man had told me but because of the overwhelming feeling I had that came over me when reading Joseph's account. I began to read the Book of Mormon and did not put it down until I had read the entire book. I took the promise Moroni gave in the last chapter of the book, to pray and ask Heavenly Father if it was true. THough my prayers I received an answer that the Book of Mormon is a true record and a second witness that Jesus Christ is the SAvior and Redeemer of the world. I was baptized into the church and have been a member for over 34 years.

How I live my faith

One of the amazing things about being a member of the Church is that we all have opportunities to serve each other. I had the opportunity to serve as a full time missionary just shortly after joining the church. When I returned after two years of service I was given other opportunities such as working with the youth ages 12 to 18 years old, I have also had a opportunity to be a Bishop assigned to a congregation of members as well as serving in other positions of leadership in the church. These opportunities to serve others have helped me to give of my time and the things the Lord has blessed me with to share with others and has been meaningful as well as fulfilling.
