Hi I'm David

I grew up in Pennsylvania and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 19. Best decision I ever made.

About Me

I'm married to a lovely lady and we have two girls and a boy. I studied mechanical engineering and now work managing a local office for a multi-national project delivery firm. When I'm not working I like to spend time outside; golfing, hunting, fishing, or maybe just in a garden.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young man I studied philosophies and religions and considered myself a truth seeker. When I was a freshman in college I wrote an English paper entitled, "Why I will never join an organized religion". Within a year and a half I ate those words. Missionaries stopped by the house I was renting during my sophomore year and told me that they had a message from Jesus Christ for me. I let them in believing that I would quickly find errors in their teachings and send them on their way. I spent the next 9 months or so trying to do so while studying, learning, and even praying about what they taught me. One evening when I was all by myself I spent some time reading from the Book of Mormon and had an experience with the Holy Spirit that I could not deny. It was just me, that book, and the Holy Spirit. No other influence could have impacted me in such a way. My first thought was "Oh no, it is true!" I understood that I was now responsible for what I knew and would have to conform to the teachings that I had heard or give up my integrity as a truth seeker. I made the right decision, was baptized, and I have never regretted it. I subsequently had the opportunity to serve a mission in Argentina and my identity as a disciple of Jesus Christ was cemented. I know that I still lack in many respects but I love God and I know He loves me. I know that Jesus Christ voluntarily gave up his life so that I could receive a remission of my sins by following Him. I love Him for what He has done for me. I am thrilled that He restored His Church to the earth and am grateful for the light and knowlege that have been shared with me. My life has been blessed in countless ways; all because I made the decision to live the truth when it was presented to me.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in the Church and have learned something from each responsibility that has been given to me. When it comes right down to it, the Lord is helping us to become more like Him by giving us opportunities to serve our brothers and sisters, God's children, either in our local community or in many places around the world. The process of exercising faith and making some sacrifices to serve others is a sanctifying one that changes us for the better in the process. I learned early on that doing God's will would always lead to greater happiness than any other course. Obedience to God's laws opens up the heavens and allows blessings to flow into our lives. In our home we all strive to help one another to do the right thing. It is not always the easiest path but I believe it is the most rewarding.
