Hi I'm Barry

I'm a husband and a father of 4 great kids. I'm a CIO at a manufacturing company. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

We live in a small town in Washington. Even though it means I have a long commute to work in Seattle, we feel it is worth it to enjoy the beautiful countryside and have the small town atmosphere to raise the kids. We moved a lot early in the marriage living in California, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Washington and even in Ireland for a short time. My wife and I have been married for 22 years and we have 3 sons and a daughter - 2 in college and 2 in high school. My wife works part time as a care-giver for people with special needs. I am the Chief Information Officer for a manufacturing company in Seattle. That basically means I'm in charge of the computer system for the company. I have been with the company for 12 years now and I still enjoy coming to work. We make camping gear and sell to retail stores such as REI. It is a really fun industry with great people. I go mountain biking and play basketball 2 or 3 times a week to keep in shape. Our family loves to go hiking, camping, boating, and participating in sports or outdoor activities. We have a very close family and we love to do things together. We play sports and board games together on a regular basis.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and was blessed with great parents, siblings, and extended family. They taught me the importance of family and through example how to follow Jesus Christ. Just as I look at a simple clock and know that someone put the parts together to create it, I look at the magnificent world, planets, and our amazing bodies and know that a great Creator exists. I have personally experienced miracles and answered prayers that let me know that the great Creator does love me and is interested in my life as well as everyone on earth. The Bible and the Book of Mormon both are full of testimonies from ancient prophets and apostles that God lives and Jesus Christ is our Savior. I have felt the powerful Spirit testify to me of the truth of their words. I have also felt that confirmation as I have listened to modern day prophets. I have helped people change their lives to accept Jesus Christ and to accept the gospel. I have seen the joy that comes into their lives. I know that fullness of the gospel with all of it’s truth is found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I’m grateful to have that truth in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by trying to be a good example of Jesus Christ at home and at work. I have had the opportunity to serve in many different ways in the church. I currently work with the full time missionaries that are in our area. I help coordinate with them as they teach people investigating the church and helping them to get to know the members of our church in our area. I have also organized service projects in cooperation with the city and other churches. We have helped to beautify our city park, we have helped widows, and we have helped with a family in need while their son was in the hospital. It is wonderful to be involved in serving and helping others.
