Hi I'm Karen

I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I am a lifelong member of the LDS church. I am a mother of 5 children and a grandmother of 14 wonderful children. I love to read and sing. I have been singing in church/ward choirs since I was 13 years old and I find that this is the best way for me to bare a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I now belong to a LDS choir in my area and have participated in building bridges in the community and through the spirit of the music, hlep to soften the hearts of those listening to us and as they feel the tenderness of the spirit, they can come to know or to question in their hearts what they have felt and why they felt that tenderness. I enjoy being with my family and am grateful to have some of my grandchildren close by as they bring great joy into my life!

Why I am a Mormon

I remember visiting the sacred grove at the age of 14. I felt an overwhelming sense of peace and love in that sacred place. That is the first time that I remember knowing that where I was and what I was doing was right and that I fully embraced the gospel. I love the way that the gospel is set up. I had at one time, made some very serious choices that took me away from feeling that sense of peace and love. I felt alone, depressed, out of control. I soon turned myself around as I couldn't cope with the outside influences that were pulling this way and that. I had to come back to that which helped and kept that peaceful and loving lifestyle. I love the structure of the principles of the gospel. Some say that they are so restrictive, I say it is live saving and preserves us from great harm and damage to ourselves and to the soul within us. I know that living the precepts and principles of this church protects us from the harm of tremendous wordly influences that can addict and harm our bodies and minds so much that what we first thought was a great thing, a great choice, that it takes over our whole entire lives. That is why, I know that I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and that the spirit and love of the Savior that is found there guides my life. I am not perfect, nor profess to be, but it helps me to keep perservering and doing that which is right, as best I can.

How I live my faith

I currently help in my ward as the a Secretary in my church women's auxiliary. I work with the a Presidency and help with anything that they need to have done. We make visits every other week to check on the ladies in our ward boundaries to welcome the new ladies and to get to know the regular membership. It is important that a friendship is established I feel as we all need to know that someone cares about us and is concerned for our welfare. I also write up an email article every Sunday about what happens in our ward and all of the announcements that might need to given to those that didn't get to church that week and also a short synopsis of the lesson that was taugtht to the ladies. I send out Birthday cards to the ladies in our ward that a talented women in the church makes for them. I am a visiting teacher to four beautiful women who enrich my life so much that I just don't know what I would do without them. I visit with them at least once a month. They are a joy to be around and I learn so much from them and they are dear friends to me. I know that this program is so instrumental to our church as it helps to build friendships and love within our church. It is also a way to make sure that everyone is doing well and if not, then a way to serve and help each other when times aren't as wonderful as we would like. I enjoy this calling very much as it is helping me to not be so unsure of myself and it makes me get out there and Go and Do!!
