Hi I'm Brandon

I'm from Washington. I played football. I'm a diabetic and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My dad was in the military and so I did my growing up all around. I was actually born in Texas but when I was two we moved to England. I lived there until I was twelve and then my dad retired. We moved up to Washington and that's where I graduated High School. I played football in High School and loved it. After High School I worked fast food for about a year. I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 18. One of my favorite things to do is to go shooting. I also like to go running, it's just a really good way to clear my head. I am a missionary serving in Arizona. For 9 months I was in a small town called Eagar and loved every second of it. Now I'm serving in the city of Mesa. That's pretty much me in a nut shell.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are Mormon, so I grew up Mormon. I was baptized when I was eight and loved it. I'm not sure I understood it all the way, in fact I know I didn't. I loved going to all the activities that the youth program puts on, but as I got older I started leaning farther and farther away. I felt like someone was telling me what to do. I still went to church almost every Sunday, but I didn't really know if this church was true. I started making choices that led me farther away from the church. Then there was a point in my life that I was brought to a crossroads. I realized that either I could continue down the path that I was going or I could change. One day I was out driving with my dad and for no particular reason he pulled off to the side of the road. He looks at me and says, "Brandon, there are two types of people in this world. There are builders and there are destroyers. Now which one are you gonna be?" And then he continues on like nothing happened. That hit me really hard. At that point in my life I was only thinking of what I could get for myself. I spent no time thinking about others. That's the point when I started to really change. I started to become a better person, but I still didn't know if this gospel was true. One day, as I was talking to my dad, he pointed something out to me that I never really thought of before. He told me that this entire religion, hinges on one focal point. Either a 14 year-old boy really did go into a grove of trees and see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, or he did not. That's it! Either he did or he didn't. So I decided I wanted to know for myself. I buckled down and swallowed my pride. I prayed to my Heavenly Father if these things were true. The answer I received was, yes. Yes these things are true. Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet. We have a prophet today that leads and guides this church. That's why I'm a Mormon, because I know these things are true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith is by serving a full-time mission for the church. We go around looking for opportunities to help and serve others. We also teach the gospel of Jesus Christ and help people come closer to Christ. I try to help people as best I can.
