Hi I'm Joy

I grew up near Las Vegas Nevada. I am married and a busy mom of 3 kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of five children and now am a happily married mom of three children. I love to read, run, enjoy the beautiful outdoors and spend time with my family who push me to learn and grow every day. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and hope to return for a Masters in Counseling. I love to learn about people and what makes us who we are!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was about 12 years old, I remember sitting in Sunday School and learning about the Plan of Salvation. I didn't have a great understanding at that time of doctrine or how the Lord teaches us truth. But that day, a light turned on for me. Somehow I knew that I had a Father in Heaven who loved me and had a plan for me to return home to him. I knew that my life had a purpose. That was 30 years ago. I have learned in the ensuing years that life is full of heartache, disappointment and all kinds of difficulties. It is also full of joy, laughter and love. I've also learned during the time since that Sunday School experience that Heavenly Father teaches us truth through the Holy Ghost. The feeling of "knowing" I had, even at 12 years old, was the Holy Ghost sent by a kind loving Heavenly Father who never forgets me nor stops loving me. The Plan of Salvation taught me where I came from, why I'm here and where I'm going. It was the hope that I received from that understanding that prompted me to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in my 20's. I knew that if I was a child of Heavenly Father, so was everyone else and that he loved them as much as he loved me. I wanted to spread His message to anyone and everyone who would listen. My experiences on my mission strengthened my beliefs. I call this knowledge I've gained my testimony. I know God lives, that we are all his children and that He is there to help us through every day until He can wrap His arms around us and welcome us home again.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon means I live what I believe 24/7. Sunday is a sacred day when I go to church to renew commitments and show my gratitude to God for everything in my life. I strive to make it a day that stands out from all the others. Everyday I pray and study scriptures in an effort to learn what the Lord needs me to do and be. I try to serve the Lord by being of service to those who need a friend and a little help.
