Hi I'm Lisa

I am a Mormon wife and mother who enjoys P90X... and chocolate!

About Me

I currently live in Texas with my wonderful husband and five beautiful children (four daughters and one son). I enjoy studying the scriptures; dabbling with photography; exercising; and, spending time with my family... especially date nights with my handsome husband! My husband would say that my "hobbies" include creating to-do lists, budgeting, paying bills, and doing loads and loads of laundry; however, I do try to fit some "fun" into my life as well! As a family, we enjoy kayaking, camping, playing board games, and devouring bags of licorice as we watch movies together. I love being with my family. My greatest blessings and joy in life come from knowing that my family relationships can endure forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a good Mormon family; however, I did not become "converted" until I was a young adult. At about 18 or 19 years of age, I realized that my spirituality was not where I wanted it to be. I lived a good life and I did good things; but, I felt like something was lacking. Consequently, I decided to make some changes. I began to take spiritual things more seriously. I began studying and pondering the scriptures and praying earnestly on a regular basis. Consequently, my faith, testimony, and knowledge of Christ's plan and gospel began to grow and mature within me. I came to better understand our Heavenly Father’s love for us; and, I gained a better appreciation for the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

I am a Mormon because I know this Church is true. I have felt peace and love as I have prayed and sought guidance in my life. I know Jesus Christ is our Savior. I love reading the Book of Mormon and know that it is truly another testament of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

At home, I live my faith with my family every day. We begin and end each day with prayer; and, we study the scriptures each night as a family. We work together; we play together; we serve together. At church, I live my faith by teaching an adult Sunday School class (Gospel Doctrine). I love studying the scriptures and sharing my testimony; so, this is an opportunity that I really enjoy.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

Because God asked them to, just like He asked Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and others. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon was written by ancient prophets just as the Bible was. The only difference is where each of these prophets lived. The Bible prophets lived in the eastern hemisphere; and, the Book of Mormon prophets lived in the western hemisphere. Both are records of God's dealings with mankind; and, both contain accounts of Jesus Christ's ministry and/or visitation among the different groups of people. The Book of Mormon and Bible both bear witness of Jesus Christ and His Atonement. Each book verifies the truthfulness of the other. Show more Show less
