Hi I'm Steve

I run far and climb high. I'm a happily married father of four, a state tax consultant, and a chicken farmer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have four awesome kids and an amazing wife. We live on a forested acre near Seattle with 13 chickens and 2 annoying parakeets. (How long do parakeets live?) I work for an accounting firm as a state tax consultant, which is a conversation killer. I'm the oldest of 11 children. How my mom and dad raised 11 kids is beyond my comprehension. My wife's parents, Ken and Barbi, have a much better relationship than the toys Ken and Barbie. I'm grateful for the example that both sets of parents have provided. I love going on high adventure backpacking trips with my children and to Europe with my wife. Over the last three years I have averaged one marathon every two months. I ran the Boston Marathon. I spend many lunch hours on 7-mile training runs along the waterfront. I climbed Mt. Rainier. I served a mission in Italy, went to graduate school there, and love all things Italian, except the mafia. I wish that I was a better golfer but I cannot justify spending so much time away from the family.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the feelings of confidence and hope that come from understanding God's plan.

How I live my faith

Everything in my life revolves around the teachings of my faith. I try to be honest, work hard, raise a good family, and serve others. My wife and I read the scriptures and pray everyday with our children. As a Mormon, I have many opportunities to serve. I currently serve in a leadership position where I regularly share my beliefs with others, encourage faithfulness, and, hopefully, set a good example. I find that serving others is really the best way to feel good about yourself.
