Hi I'm Johanna

I love laughing and spending time with my family. I work with kids as an educator and coach, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I currently live in Idaho and have had an opportunity to live in many different states in the U.S. both as a child and an adult. I really enjoy visiting new places and seeing historical and cultural sites. I enjoy reading a good mystery or fantasy novel, looking for sea shells and/or rocks on the beach and eating ice cream. Growing up, I was very involved in theater and music programs so working as a college intern at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom was truly a highlight for me. Now I work as a Colorguard/Winterguard coach, teaching dance and movement to high school students. My family is a big part of my life. We all live in different states so our family gatherings are a special treat. One of their favorite things to do is get me laughing so hard that I start crying. How blessed I feel to know that I will always get to spend time with my family even after we leave this life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon household, but as a teenager I wanted to know for myself if what I was being taught at church and home was really true or not. I studied the Book of Mormon and after reading it I prayed and thought about whether what I read really happened or just some really great stories. I felt a huge sense of peace and warmth, like someone giving me a really big hug. I knew then that what I read really happened and since then I have continued to study the scriptures and I feel so thankful for the reassuring peace I feel each time I do. I continue to study and learn about Jesus Christ's gospel and each time I have a question in life, I find the answers I'm looking for in the scriptures and words of our current church leaders and prophet.

How I live my faith

Growing up some of my greatest hero's were those who lived the way they talked. As an adult, I try to be the kind of person who lives what I teach. I have fun working with the Young Women at church that are 12-17 years old. We have activities each Tuesday night that are fun or spiritually uplifting or a little bit of both. I also enjoy helping others in my community whether it's volunteering at the hospital, helping friends with projects or being someone to talk to. I notice that when I spend time helping other people, I'm able to see the bigger picture of life and am able to notice little miracles that occur all around me.
