Hi I'm Lavern

I'm a disciple of Christ, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest daughter and number five of a family of ten children. I love large families.  I'm a wife, a mother of three daughters, and a grandmother of three grandsons and five granddaughters. It is true what they say, grandchildren are your reward for surviving your children. Although I'd have to say that my daughters have always been wonderful to me. Family and the gospel is where I find my greatest joy. Although I worked in the accounting field for nearly 30 years, working outside the home has never brought me the sense of fulfillment and happiness that being a wife and mother and grandmother does.

Why I am a Mormon

Initially I was born into the church. My ancestors from both sides of my family joined the church shortly after the restoration. So I guess I qualify as "died in the wool mormon". To this I am eternally grateful. I have an incredible legacy of faithfull Latter-Day-Saints who gave their whole lives to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I hope to do the same. I continue to be a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's church restored in these latter days. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, that he did indead see God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I know that he translated the Book of Mormon, another testament of Christ. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. I know that God lives and loves us and wants all of His children to return to Him. I know that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of the world. I know that Christ atoned for our sins and sorrows and that only through Him can we be saved. I know that true happiness only comes through living Christ's teachings and receiving His ordinances.

How I live my faith

Service is the gospel of Christ. Christ gave of His life for us. He set the perfect example. I love serving in the church. Through the years I have worked in the youth programs, teaching dance for the dance festivals, serving as girls camp leader, directing road shows (plays), teaching in the youth programs, teaching in the women's organization. I learned to play the piano while a youth and accompanied the school choir in junior and senior high school. I later learned to play the organ and starting in high school I have played the organ for church and accompanied the church choir for most of my adult life. Serving in the church is a wonderful privilege and brings me much joy.
