Hi I'm Chiyo

I was born and raised in Hiroshima, Japan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife and a mom of two boys. My husband is getting his MA degree so I'm staying home with the boys and am working as a resident manager.(yes, I'm a busy bee!) My dream is to go back to college to finish my degree in Architecture and maybe open up my own business. I have a lot of things that I love to do; swimming, hiking, crafting, taking photos, sewing, knitting, cooking, watching movies...and so on.

Why I am a Mormon

I started going to church when I was two years old. Simply why I started going to this church was because of my parents. My father had been wondering how to teach his children the right way since I was born. For two years, he associated with his friends from different religions trying to figure out something right to him. He couldn't find the one so he started praying. Then, the missionaries from Mormon church showed up one night out of blue. My father and my mother both joined the church after half a year of the missionaries' visit. That's how I STARTED. Now WHY I'm a Mormon is this. I grew up in Japan where majority of people's faith are based on Buddhism. I started wondering why I believed in different things from anybody else around me.(I was the only Mormon in everywhere) I felt an urge to find out whether if this church is true or not. I came to a conclusion that I needed to know if the Book of Mormon is true. If the book is true, then Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that means that God and Jesus Christ really did appear to him to restore the true church of Christ. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. I received the answer soon after. I knew this is true. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has simple solutions to a lot of problems we face to each day. I'm happy because I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I'm serving in a children program in a church right now. I know that I'm not a great person when it comes to dealing with kids. However, God knows what I need to know exactly. He is helping me stretch my shortcoming and make it better. I also visit and teach some of the ladies that I was assigned to visit and take care of every month. It is a great opportunity for me to talk with them and find some things that I could serve for them. "For how knoweth a man master whom he has not served, and who is a stranger unto him, and is far from the thoughts and intents of his heart?" -Mosiah 5:13( from The Book of Mormon)
