Hi I'm LuAnn

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a registered nurse, a student, a wife and a mother. I am finishing my Master's of Science in Nursing degree. I have 7 children ranging from 26 years to 5 years, and 6 grandchildren ranging from 6 years to "still in the tummy"! My youngest three children were Chinese-born and adopted into our family. I work full-time outside the home as a Nurse Manager. I enjoy knitting, any activity that includes my family--bike riding, Frisbee golf, basketball, watching hockey and football as well as watching movies together.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon; however, I continue to be a Mormon because I have experienced the blessings that come from following God's commandments. Even though I was raised a Mormon, I still had to gain my own testimony. How did I do this? By reading, praying and really having the desire to know who my Father in Heaven and my elder brother, Jesus Christ, are and what their desires are for me. I'm thankful for Joseph Smith--who had the courage, as a 14-year-old boy to utter a prayer that would, ultimately, have a profound effect on my life.

How I live my faith

My family and I volunteer within the community--serving meals for the homeless, sponsoring a family for Christmas, donating items to the local women's shelter and, for the first time this year, we volunteered for Ironman. We also serve within our church--helping maintain the church grounds, helping those in need whenever possible. I am the choir pianist at church. I love to play the piano and am thankful for the opportunity to do so as I feel that every time I play, I am showing my thanks to the Lord for His gifts to me. The scriptures say "When you are in the service of your fellow being, you are only in the service of your God." and that is something that we strive to teach our children to do on a regular basis--think of others and help them in their difficulties as I know that serving others shows our Heavenly Father our love and obedience to his commandments.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

The only way that we can truly know our Father in Heaven is to truly have the desire to know him and to have a personal relationship with him. Just as we talk with our spouse about the days' activities, we should also 'talk' to our Heavenly Father daily--in prayer. Daily prayer is so important in a personal relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ as is thanking them for the many blessings they give us daily. To know your Father in Heaven what better place to find out about Him than through the scriptures! Heavenly Father has provided the scriptures is a guide for us, but if we don't study and learn His desires for us, we cannot enjoy the blessings that he a waiting to give us as we obey His commandments. As you pray and study the scriptures, you will come to know Father in Heaven and how much He loves you and you will feel the peace that comes from having that personal relationship with Him.
