Hi I'm Danny Pickett

I have lived in Mesa and Gilbert AZ for over 20 years. I have a wonderful family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for almost 6 years to a very special woman. We have twin boys that are 4 and a 1 year old son as well. I graduated college with a Masters Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Currently, I also work with the Boys Scouts as a Scout Master. If I have any free time, I love to read, play any sports and cook. I own two businesses that The Lord has blessed us with success in. I am entrepreneurial minded and always have new inventive or innovative thoughts on how to improve my life, businesses and other responibilities.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because the teachings of the LDS church contain more hope, light and truth than can be found anywhere else in the world. I love the fact that The Lord has provided Prophets and Apostles whose function is to bring us closer to Jesus Christ and God, and fill our lives with hope. Every six months the church as a whole meets for a General Conference. Consistently, the messages from the church leaders are about hope in and through Jesus Christ. I am Mormon because I know that the LDS church is led by Jesus Christ. Not to say that The Savior is not involved with other churches, however, I know that the LDS church contains all of the truths that are needed to be saved in the truest sense of the word. I served a mission for the church in Brazil. During my time there, I saw how the gospel of Jesus Christ permeated the lives of the Brazilian people. The awesome blessing in my life was not only the change that I saw in others, but also the changes in my life that brought me to a clearer understanding of how being truly converted could allow the power of Jesus mold me into a better person. I think the bottom line for me is that, we are hear on earth to exercise faith and come unto Christ. The teachings of the LDS church enable our best chances of doing so because the truth that is taught here. We learn the promises of God to his children and are able to see those promises be fulfilled right in front of our eyes. IT IS AWESOME TO BE MORMON!

How I live my faith

Currently, I live my faith first and foremost by trying to be the best husband and father that I can be. As I read the scriptures I try to apply their teachings in my everyday life by treating my wife and children how Christ would have me treat them. I also volunteer my time with the scouting program in our neighborhood. This has allowed me to be active in the community and work closely with the youth. The interesting part about the Mormon church is that we are asked to serve in a variety of fields. For example, in the last 5 years I have worked with the youth, with missionary work, with leadership within the local church and working with adults. My wife has worked with youth, with some of the older women and is currently playing the piano for the children of the church. We live our faith in this way by allowing our talents to be used and working on those things that might not be strengths for us. Either way, our reliance on The Lord and exercising of faith brings us closer to Christ and builds a stronger relationship of mutual trust between us.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Danny Pickett
PRAY AND LISTEN!!! We believe that when we talk to God it is called prayer and when He speaks with us it is called revelation. Unfortunately, often times people just pray and forget to listen. This cuts out the revelatory power of the conversation with God. I have met many people who have prayed about the LDS church to know if it is really the truth that God has given us. I have seen over and over that when people really sincerely want to know, if they simply study learn pray and listen that God WILL answer their prayers. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Danny Pickett
Mormons only worship Jesus Christ and God, our Heavenly Father. We especially acknowledge that there is only one name by which we can be saved, Jesus Christ. That being said, we give respect to, and sustain prophets of all ages that lead us to Christ. We believe that Joseph Smith was instrumental in leading us to our Savior and that he was called as one of these prophets. We believe that Joseph Smith's role is just as important as those of earlier prophets such as Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Noah, Moses, Isaiah etc. His role as a prophet also included the responsibility to restore Christ's church in the latter days, bring forth newly revealed scriptures and proclaim the eternal truth that had been somewhat distorted throughout the generations from the time of Christ. Personally, I love reading about Joseph's life and ministry. I have felt many times the power of his teachings. He has taught me how to live closer to Christ, and shown me, through his example, how to live a more Christlike life. That is why I honor him as someone who has helped me come closer to Jesus Christ.
