Hi I'm Stephanie

I grew up in Southern California and now live in Mesa, AZ. I am a wife, a mom, a daughter, and sister. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married 17 years and am a mother of 3 girls and 2 boys. After my first two children were born, I went back to college and earned my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I just competed in my first half marathon. Although I don't consider myself a runner, I love to walk long distances. I work part time doing clerical work while my children are in school. I grew up in a family of ten children and learned to work and do my part. I try to pass that on to my children, but I don't know if I am as tough as my mother was. I love music! I love to play the piano and listen to my children sing. My children love to dance also. I will join in but usually get made fun of for the 1980s dance moves. But I don't let that stop me!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe he sacrificed everything so that we could come back and live with Him and Heavenly Father again. I believe that through the prophet Joseph Smith, the Church of Jesus Christ was restored on the earth again. I believe that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon which is the second witness of Jesus Christ. I believe in families being sealed together forever, never to broken if we live worthily. I believe in baptism, just as Jesus did. I believe in being baptized for those who have died without the chance of doing so. I am a life long member of this church. But, that doesn't mean my testimony has always been rock solid. I believe we're given experiences to test our faith. Just like all of us, I have had some rocks put in my path, whether by my own choices or just simply placed before me. It is then that I have to make a decision. Am I going to let this challenge consume me? Or am I going to strengthen my faith and allow this challenge to shape me. Sometimes it takes a while to make a decision. But, I am so grateful I get to make that decision. And that's another reason why I am a Mormon. I believe that next to eternal life itself, the principle of agency, the right to choose, is his next greatest gift. We get to be completely accountable for our own thoughts and actions and I love that!

How I live my faith

I have the opportunity to work with the women in my ward at this time and I absolutely love it! I get to go to their homes and visit them. I get to participate and organize the activities and service projects that involve the women in my ward. It is my responsibility to help strengthen the faith and make sure they have their basic necessities of life. I teach about once a quarter as well. I get to serve as a Visiting Teacher. I am assigned a short list of sisters and my responsibility is to get to know and love them. I also look for ways of serving them. I have regular contact with them and usually share a gospel message. If anything comes up where they need help at a moment's notice, I ask them to call me for that help. I seek personal inspiration to know how to help these women with their spiritual and temporal needs. I definitely feel the blessings of the service I get to render. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to help others. I know when I have needed help, there are those in my ward family that have been there for me. So, for me, it's just a matter of giving back.
