Hi I'm Debbie Slade

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother to 7 children. I have 26 grandchildren. I like to bake and love to sew. I like making quilts and crocheting afgans. I and my husband currently are taking care of my 87 year old mother. She is very sweet and easy to care for.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. I always knew I had a Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. From my earliest memory, I felt loved and secure in the knowledge they were always there for me. I have always used prayer to communicate with my Heavely Father, and feel it is an anchor in my life. When I was 19 and went away to university, I gained a firm testimony of the Book of Mormon. I love it and love to read it daily. I read other books of scripture, but the Book of Mormon is the one I always return to for comfort and guidance. It is written so plainly and it is easy for me to understand.

How I live my faith

I feel it is important to go to church every Sunday. Just as we need to feed our physical bodies, we need to feed our spiritual selves. I get renewed by attending church meetings. I currrently work with the women in my ward keeping track of each sisters's visit to other sisters in our ward. This is a way we try to make sure everyone feels loved and needed, and we can be aware of anyone in need. In the past I have taught Sunday school classes of various ages of children. I have also taught classes of teen-age girls. I have been honored to serve in leadership capacity of the women's organization of our church and participate in various service projects. We have worked with local charities to help families in our area by gathering furniture and clothing to give to those in need. We have gathered supplies and made Humanitarian Kits to distribute to people in other countries. We gathered books for a local shool library. In all these projects I was able to witness the generosity and love of those sisters I shared the same values and church membership with. In addition, through these projects we were able to reach out to the community and work with many wonderful people and make new friends.
