Hi I'm Elmer Shaw III

I'm a Mormon. I live in Danville, Pa

About Me

I live in Central Pa, in a rural area. I enjoy the outdoors, water sports and hunting. I own two small businesses both of them completely unrelated to each other and in different towns. Gardening for self sustaining food is a major hobby of mine. I graduated high school and have various technical training related to my jobs. Never went to college. Cooking is something that I find as a way to relief stress, mostly consists of smoking, or charcoal grill cooking.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this is the one church that I truly felt was where I need to be. When I was first looking at churches when a time in my life I was questioning a lot of things in life, I did not even consider this church. As time went on I was asked by a employee if I looked at the church and I said no and why? After a couple of very peaceful discussions, I agreed to attend a service. The first thing that really dew me to the church was that no one was paid, they all gave of their time to serve others. With that being said, then they must really believe in what they are doing and have no financial gain for me just being there and paying tithing. After reading the Book of Mormon for the first time and then meeting with the missionaries, I decided that the church was right for me. That was 14 years ago and my life has been blessed many times over in following the teachings in the Scriptures.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve as the 2nd counselor in the bishopric. Before that I served as the ward executive secretary for 2 bishops, and as secretary in the elders quorum. Serving in the bishopric really opens ones eyes as to the level of service the leaders go through performing their callings. Being in the bishopric all eyes watch your every move and that is a great reminder to "CTR" Choose The Right. I also find myself stopping to do those little things for people just because they cannot do for themselves more and more. After all someone needs to reach that top shelf.
