Hi I'm Susette

I'm a mom, I work full time, read full time, love to play volleyball and go country dancing and yep I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Howdy! I love talking to people. I love sharing life experiences. I've had many myself and what I've learned is that we cannot begin to understand anothers' heart the way the Lord does and so who am I to judge. I am a mom of 3 teenagers. I was lucky enough to be home for them when they were little but I've been working full time for the last 5years as a Dental Assistant. My other love is reading. It's a sickness really and with all the other things I love to do it's amazing that I've read 676 books in 4 years and counting. I guess I read fast, been know to finish a 900pg paperpack in 2 days, 1 if I dont' get interrupted. :D My husband and I usually can be found almost every Saturday night country dancing. We love the time we get to spend together and it's good exercise! I am one of the teachers for my ward's Relief Society. I love studying the scriptures and talks from our prophets and then discussing those topics with the class. My husband and I are also very involved in the Boy Scouting program and even helped start a new district. We love the oportunities this Church has provided for us to serve others.

Why I am a Mormon

For a long time I wondered if I was a Mormon because it was so much a part of my lifestyle, or if I really believed it's concepts to be true. My testimony is this... I know the Book of Mormon is another testament of our Savior Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith was inspired to translate this sacred and beloved book. I know that Jesus lived and does still live and is guiding this gospel through his prophets, same as he did in days of old. I know that Jesus lived and showed us by example how we should live, He suffered for our sins. Such an incredible suffering that I will never be able to comprehend. And because of His supreme sacrafice I am free to forgive because he already paid the price and I'm free to love and live as He would have me live. How do I know all of this things? The spirit has testified to me that they are true. How do we know the truth of anything? It feels right when it is right. Having the spirit with me as a constant companion helps me in everything I do and and everywhere I go. And when I'm not sure, I ask in faith and the truth is freely given. After much praying, study and living, I don't wonder why I'm a Mormon anymore.

How I live my faith

I have had many oportunities to serve in this church. At the present time, I am a teacher for the women in my ward who are 18 yrs and older. Once a month I get to lead a discussion on gospel topics and scriptures with an amazing group of women from so many diferent backgrounds, widows, mothers, singles, divorced. I love the insight each one brings to the class. I am also on the Boy Scout Committee. In this calling I help the Boy Scout in our unit advance through the stages to obtain their Eagle. It fun to see the boys excell in this amazing program. I also schedule our building out for the various activites that go on in our church. One of my favorite things I love about this church is our Visiting Teaching program. This program allows you to have women who you watch over and make sure they have the basic necessities of life temporally and spiriturally. So if you have a baby, it's your visiting teachers who will bring you dinners while your recover, or help watch a child for you, or pick you up if your stranded on the road. It's an amazing comfort knowing there are women who are assigned to love you and take care of you and be a friend. What an amazing program to be a part of. No matter where you go in the world in this church you have a built in group of women who will take care of your spiritual and everyday needs and the best part is you get to do the same for someone else. We all love and take care of each other.
