Hi I'm Nichole Barney

I am a wife and mother. I love running and the outdoors. I find strength through our Savior, Jesus Christ. I am a mormon.

About Me

I was raised by two amazing parents, in a family of six children. I grew up in Utah and made the choice to go to BYU and study Elementary Education. I was strongly considering serving a mission for our church but at the same time met my husband-to-be and he swept me off my feet and we were married. I have been so lucky to be married to my best friend! We moved down to Arizona from Utah after graduating from BYU, which is where my husband started his career. We have lived in Arizona ever since. We have had many amazing years together with a lot of growth and opportunity. I am a proud mother of four beautiful children. Being a mother is the greatest joy of my life! My heart melts when I think about each one my children and who they are becoming. I spend most of my time doing all the stuff that moms do: cooking, cleaning, chauffeuring, laundry and more laundry. When I can squeeze in other things I love to run and be out in nature. I love to read, travel, blog, and spend time with the people that I love.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a home where both my parents were Mormon and they were amazing faithful examples to me. I think I relied a lot on their testimonies as a child. They had great faith and they taught me many principals that felt right and good. I loved attending church as a child and participating in all the activities. As a teenager the gospel helped me to think through what my purpose was in life was and what kind of person I wanted to become. I saw people around me struggling because of choices and I didn't want to be that person. I knew that God loved me and wanted the best for me. I wanted to carry the light of Christ with me. When I was living on my own for college I had to really think about what the gospel meant to me and how I was going to use it in my life. This is the time in my life where I really learned to study the scriptures and rely on prayer. It became a huge blessing! Now, as I raise my own family in this difficult world the church is such a safe guard for our family. Our church is based around Christ and trying to emulate him in every way. It is a process that we are continually working on. I love the programs available in our church for children and especially the youth. It helps them in every aspect of their life to be a good person. I love going to church every Sunday, and learning from all the people there. I love the values and standards that are taught! Although I have not mastered the scriptures and I still have a lot to learn I can't deny the feeling in my heart that it is true. It feels good and right! I know that through faith I will learn more and more. I know that I can pray to a God who hears my prayers. I love having a purpose in life! I love knowing that I am working toward being an eternal family. It makes my time on earth important and meaningful and I want to use it wisely. I love the gospel with all my heart. I wish everyone could see the good this church represents.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith each day by following Christ's great example. He is the center of our home. It is the small and simple things we do each day that make us who we are. I can feel strength in my life when I use the resources we have available to us like prayer, scripture study and attending the temple. I know when I serve those around me and try to live my life as the Savior did that is when I feel the greatest joy. I am currently working with the young women (age 16-18) in the area we live in. I learn so much from them! I am amazed at the power and strength they have. We have strong youth standing up against a lot of evil in the world today. I can see the light of Christ shining in their eyes!
