Hi I'm John

I grew up in a large Mormon family and have been Mormon all my life.

About Me

I was born in California while my Dad attended Dental School. We then moved to Arizona where I grew up, went to school, graduated and left. My folks moved a short time after I left. I served a mission in Chile, came back and went to BYU graduating in Construction Management. While at school, I met JoLyn Vurciaga and after about a year we married.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint, and I attended church with my folks and 12 brothers and sisters while I was living at home. I didn't really gain a witness of the truthfulness of the Church until I went on a mission and preached the gospel to the good people in Chile. I found that everyone who wants to know the truth, whether they are born into the church or discover the gospel later, have to gain a testimony that it is true and develop a relationship with Christ on their own. I have prayed and studied a lot to know for myself, and I do know that it is true.

How I live my faith

I live my religion by attending Sunday meetings with my wife and children, studying the word of God, praying as often as possible and trying to do good at home, work and community. I have had the opportunity to work in many youth programs in the church like the Boy Scouts and older youth as well. Our family had to chance to go to Mexico and live for 3 years while working on Temple construction for the LDS Church in 4 different cities. The people were great and the experience was one in a million. We found that the Mormon Church is the same where ever you go and what ever language you speak. We had a bunch of friends and church family in all the cities we lived in while in Mexico.

In whom should we have faith?

John
Many people are confused about the LDS belief in Jesus Christ. Although we have prophets in the church we do not worship them in any way. Our only Savior, Redeemer and Lord is Jesus Christ. We worship Him and our Father in Heaven and none else. Show more Show less
