Hi I'm John

I build and fly NASA spacecraft. I'm a political junkie, a drummer, and a runner. I'm a dad. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I help build and fly interplanetary robotic spacecraft for NASA. I'm a father of three small children and spend most of my free time with them and my wife. I enjoy running and staying fit. I love music, I play all sorts of drums, and I occasionally jam with an acoustic trio. I am interested in politics, and spend way too much time keeping up with various political developments and current events.

Why I am a Mormon

As I study The Book of Mormon, and the history of its translation, the only logical explanation for its origin is that claimed by Joseph Smith - that it is a divinely revealed history of an actual people and their teachings of the Savior Jesus Christ. Even more convincing, as I have read and pondered the teachings it contains, I have felt a witness to my heart and soul many times that they do come from God and are true. Attending church each week helps me feel closer to God and His Son, and helps me as I try to be the best person I can be.

How I live my faith

Each Sunday I attend church with my local congregation. On Wednesdays I teach a group of boy scouts various scouting skills to help them develop into successful men of faith. Although my voice is nothing special, I enjoy singing with our ward choir in weekly practices and occasional performances. On a personal level, I pray each day with my family and try to study the scriptures regularly. I teach my children the stories of Jesus and the prophets and do my best to set a good example for them. I try to love my fellow men and always be a good and kind person. I'm far from perfect, but I'm trying hard to live my life as a follower of Jesus Christ.
