Hi I'm Braden!

I love to write. I play the tuba. I enjoy the finer (and/or geekier) things in life and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Reading is one of my favorite things to do. I have a bad habit of checking all of the used bookstores, library sales, yard sales and whatever else to find books. I have a huge stack of unread books that I need to tackle! I want to be a professor someday and I love to learn. I love to eat and to cook and enjoy good company. Going to Concerts and the Theatre and the Cinema are some of my favorite things. I try to be a good person and make a positive influence in the world around me. I figure that we are all in this thing together, Why not find the good and run with it?

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon and remain faithful to that because I've found truth here. I was pretty unduly skeptical of the church that my parents raised me in. I looked for a lot of reasons and excuses not to believe and not to become better or live the religion. Church went through one ear and out another and looked for truth in other places. Through many happenings in my life (which, frankly, I now can see as being God's plan) I humbled myself and I really sought the revelation from God as to whether or not The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints really is what it claims to be. And through earnest seeking through studying the Scriptures, Going to Church with my heart and my mind and prayer. I recieved that answer. I know that God loves me and you, and that He is the Great Planmaker. He has an absolutely beautiful plan laid out for each of us. A plan designed to help us reach our maximum potential through experiences both easy and hard, blessings and through learning.

How I live my faith

I try to live the best I can. I try to serve people around me and I try to live the commandments. I really do believe that in the end, we are the sum total of our thoughts, words and actions and that what we allow to influence us is what we become. That being said, I want to become a kind man, a conscience man and a Christlike man. So I try to influence myself with scripture and with service and fellowship and worship in the church.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

We have a joyful message to share and we know that the love of God needs to be extended to each creature of his creation. We believe that everyone will have to accept or reject this unique message and the sooner one accepts it, the sooner one can be blessed for it. Jesus commanded us to share and it gives us the opportunity to come closer to him. I know that the proselyting function of the church is of great benefit for both those doing it and those that are touched in someway---big or small---by the effort. Show more Show less
