Hi I'm Jared

I am a college student, I'm a brother, I'm preparing to serve a mission, I love music, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of six children in a wonderful family, that loves me very much. My brother and I love to play/watch football together with our dad, and we spend many evenings playing backyard football together. I just graduated from high school this past year, and am now just about to begin college. I'm a little nervous, but very excited! I'm currently listed as majoring in political science, but I really haven't got much of a clue what I'll end up majoring in. During high school, I spent most of my time debating, dating, helping plan activities for student government, and spending time with my family and friends. I really love to talk to people, and share my ideas with them, which is part of why I loved debate so much. When I debated I always experienced a rush when trying to persuade people to agree with my ideas. I love to think about moral dilemmas, and find ways to solve them. I have also greatly enjoyed playing the piano, and even write some of my own music. My favorite pianist is John Schmidt, and one of my favorite songs is Water fall. All in all I would say I've been very blessed with a very wonderful life!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, because I truly believe it is Christ's church. Jesus Christ has again called apostles, and prophets to lead and guide his children back to him. These Apostles and Prophets have the same authority that Christ gave to Peter, James and John, and they literally speak with God and receive revelation for us. I have a testimony of these living prophets, because I have listened to their words and have applied them to my life. As I have done this, I have felt myself grow closer to God. I have also felt the sacred witness of The Holly Ghost confirming that the words of the prophets are the words of God. Our Heavenly Father loves us, he will not leave us in darkness, which is why he calls prophets to enlighten and teach us. This is just as true now as it was in the time of Moses, Abraham, James, or John. Another testament to me that God loves his children is The Book of Mormon. This book gives the account of God's dealings with the people of the ancient Americas. I have read it and prayed about it many times, and I know that it is the word of God just as the Bible is. I invite anyone to read this book, and pray about it, that they too can come to know what I have learned. Above all this book testifies of Jesus Christ and his crucial role in our salvation. I know that Jesus Christ lives and loves us! He has restored his church again upon the earth with his priesthood authority. This authority was lost when Christ's apostles where rejected and killed. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and was able to be an instrument in God's hands in bringing about the restoration of Christ's church with the literal authority of God. The Bible tells us that we may know if something is true by its fruits. I testify that The Book of Mormon is the fruit of this church, reading it has brought me to know that this is his church. Again I bear witness that this is Christ's church, In the sacred name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I do my best to live my religion through doing the little things like reading my scriptures, sincerely praying to God, giving to the needy, being kind and thoughtful of others, and spending meaningful time with my family. Above all I try to follow the example of Jesus Christ who gives us the perfect example of how to live our faith. Through learning about His life I have also come to recognize that Christ himself sought baptism from one who had the authority of God to administer such a sacred ordinance. This has lead me to live my faith through making sacred covenants with The Lord with the proper priesthood authority. I still do not fully understand the importance of baptism or other similar ordinances, but I know that if The Savior himself was baptized to live his faith, that I surely must be baptized to live mine. Another lesson I have learned from my Savior is to serve those around you, whomever they may be, for we are all children of God. In Christ's church I also live my faith through keeping myself spiritually clean so that I can honor the priesthood power that he has entrusted me with. I also do my best to fulfill callings and assignments given to me by my church leaders. I also believe that a very important part of living my faith is turning to Christ for forgiveness. We all are going to make mistakes at some point, but Christ has provided a way for us to be made clean through his atonement. This allows us to come nearer to him and become the person that God wants us to be. I continually strive to learn as much as I can about Christ's commandments and doctrines, so that I may apply them to my life. I also have tried to share the things I have learned with others so that they too can have the great joy I have found in my service to Christ, and my membership in his church.
