Hi I'm Janet

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college graduate. I studied music, German and military science. I served a full time mission to the people of Germany. I also served my country for 5 years as an officer in the Army. I'm married and have 3 children. I love being a mother. After all I've done in my life I want to say that being a mom has been the most challenging. It requires the most patience, continuous hard work, personal and physical sacrifice, and vigilance I've had to give any one thing. On top of it all I'm a walking zombie, and that doesn't help when I'm trying to be the teacher as well. Somewhere in there I'm still a wife and date night is a saving grace. It reminds me that my husband is still there and needs to come first. It's a work in progress. Being a wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend is my life and I love it all.

Why I am a Mormon

Fortunately, I was born into a family that was already a member. I was blessed to know of and feel the workings of the spirit of God in my youth. I always had a testimony of the things I had been taught, but at age 21 I wanted to gain a more doctrinal based testimony for myself. Plus, I wanted to show God that I was serious about serving Him. In the book, Doctrine and Covenants section 4 verse 3 it reads: Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work. I felt myself called and promptly filled out my missionary paperwork. Serving a mission gave me the dedicated time to come to know my scriptures better and serve God's children daily. This beautiful combination brought me closer to my savior Jesus Christ and deepened my desires to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love that through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ the priesthood, or authority to act in Christs name, has brought back all the saving ordinances necessary to return back to our Father in Heaven. Those saving ordinances include baptism and family sealings. I love the family I've been given here on earth and I want to be with them forever. The restored gospel of Jesus Christ makes it possible for us even after we die to be united as family for time and all eternity.

How I live my faith

I live my life with the knowledge of knowing who I am. I know who I am, that I am a child of God. He is my heavenly father. He is a real being. I lived with Him before this life. He loves me and has a plan for me to succeed in this life and return home to Him. This plan requires a savior. God sacrificed His son, Jesus Christ, that through this atonement all His children that follow Christ's example may return to live with Him. So, I live my life each day by following Jesus Christ's example. We learn most about Christ through the scriptures. So I read them. I teach my children the words of the scriptures and we try our best to live by the teaching found in the scriptures. I attend my church meetings and serve members of my faith as best I can. I try to be a good neighbor. I'm honest in my dealings with men. Most of all I pray. I pray to speak with my father in heaven. I tell Him how thankful I am for this great plan, the blessings in my life, and even the challenges. I thank Him for the opportunity to be a wife and mother, to learn and grow and better myself. I share my concerns with Him and even my broken heart when life gets me down. He heals me through Jesus. I receive strength to carry on and move on with my life. I am strengthened through my trials and I can express my gratitude for even these most difficult times in my life. As I look back I see how my Heavenly Father was there for me, and how He uses my trials to teach and strengthen me. I love my heavenly father and I want to please Him. I want to be my best for Him. When I do things that are contrary to His will and I feel shameful and want to run away and hide all I have to do is humble myself and turn to Him in prayer. He is not angry with me, disgusted in me or unwilling to love me. He is there to help me make restitution, to comfort and love me better. He teaches me what I can do to make it right and feel accepted once again. I dedicate my life to Him.
