Hi I'm Ralph

I grew up in Maryland. I am a husband, father, CPA, swimmer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Maryland a suburb of Washington DC. I am a husband and father. My wife is a sweet lady and we have four lovely children. They are the love of our lives. They bring challenges, but joy comes with that. I love to swim and watch sporting events. I enjoy solving issues. I love mysteries. I am a CPA and have started up my own business recently.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I can receive the gift of the Holy Ghost just like it says in the Bible, Acts 2:38 “…and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” So what is the gift of the Holy Ghost? For me it is best described through a personal example. On the morning of September 11, 2001, my wife and I were getting ready to leave for the airport to travel back to the Washington, DC, area to our home in Northern Virginia near the Pentagon. We had a sitter at our home while we were gone to watch over our children ages 14, 13, 9 and 6. While getting ready for the airport we heard about the 9/11 tragedy. We began to be anxious as our cell calls to the area were not getting thru. What would happen to our children with no sitter around? Were our children safe? Were among the questions we had. So we knelt down in prayer and asked our Heavenly Father that he would provide assistance for our children. We felt a sweet, calm feeling that said, “Things will be fine.” This was the Holy Ghost speaking to us. That feeling stayed with us the entire day, until we were able to communicate with our children. Here is what “Things will be fine” meant. A neighbor of ours went to the elementary school to pick up his two children. He felt that he should also pick up our two youngest children and take them to his house. Our older two children stayed at the school and consoled students with parents who worked in the Pentagon until this same neighbor picked them up as well. When the cell phone system finally operated again, we were able to reach our “sitter”, who had already left his home to stay with our children. Gratefully our four precious children arrived home safely while we continued to wait two thousand miles away to catch a return flight home. The Holy Ghost provided us an answer in a time of uncertainty thru the peaceful sweet feeling, for this I am grateful.

How I live my faith

In the past few years we have experienced turbulent economic times resulting in my employer closing his business and leaving me unemployed. I decided to open up my own CPA business. I first studied it out in my mind and came to a decision, then I went to my Heavenly Father in prayer and asked if the decision I had made was correct. I received a sweet, peaceful feeling inside me that this was correct. Starting up a business in this economy has been very challenging and at times frightening. Each time I would start to get anxious over the economy I took the time to pray and The Holy Ghost would tell me thru my feelings that things are going to be OK. The Gift of the Holy Ghost is such a great possession that has and continues to provide comfort when facing uncertainty.
