Hi I'm Jared

My family and I live in and love Austin, Texas. I own a landscape construction company and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have three beautiful children. Our children bring us a lot of joy, especially when they do what we ask. We love Austin. We enjoy spending time together with family and friends. Date night is very important to us. I love to swim and do anything else in the water. I did not choose to finish college, instead I started a landscape business and have hired personal advisors and do a lot of reading to help me through the process.

Why I am a Mormon

I struggled as a teenager. I wanted to be accepted, so I hung out with the wrong crowd. To be accepted you just did what they did. After a couple of years I began to feel lost, alone and afraid. I remember a day when these feelings were especially poignant. I knelt down at my bed side, found a copy of the Book of Mormon under my bed (my Mom probably put it there), opened the book and began to read. For the first time in my life I felt God speaking to my soul. At that moment I knew that the Book of Mormon contained the word of God. I later came to know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he was called to restore God's church here on this earth.

How I live my faith

My family and I attend church weekly, have goals to pray everyday together, read scriptures and spend quality time together. Personally, I read the scriptures and pray everyday (this is how I survive). I serve in the church as a Young Men's Leader. Which gives me the opportunity to be a role model to boys. As a youth leader we are responsible for planning and organizing events that will strengthen them. I really enjoy being a friend and example they can look up to. Some of the boys come from a pretty rough background. Serving in the church helps give me the balance I need to keep the right perspective in life.
