Hi I'm Derek

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have now been married for about a year and a half, and have a three month old son. I go to school full-time and work full-time. I am studying supply chain management and am working on transferring from a community college to a University. I work at Discount tire Americas tire, and love it. I have wonderful friends there and its really challenging. i have grown up in the same area all my life and love seeing the changes made. but now with my own family i struggle to make ends meet. But we survive. I went to Rome, Italy for my mission and loved it. I was grateful to be there at the time the announced the temple. Italy was great, now i love the food and love cooking the food. Lasagna is my specialty, and boy is it delicious. i also love swimming, hiking, playing the piano, and most of all spending time with my family no matter the activity.

Why I am a Mormon

Life is tough, and so are some trials people can have. Most times this rough path and bumps in the road really tend to lead us astray. Some reasons why I continue to follow the gospel of Jesus Christ, is because it uplifts, strengthens and relieves me from my day to day burdens. Work is hard, school is hard, and sometimes just waking up in the morning knowing that your just going to do it all again is hard, and frustrating. The negative bring us down. But reading my scriptures personally and as a family, saying my prayers, and "trying" to do what is right, brings a peace from the storm. In my home and my heart, i like to say and i quote" the storm stops here" With the fullness of the gospel taught in the LDS church I no longer have to go through life thinking its all for nothing. But that i can feel the love of Christ and know that my Heavenly Father loves me, by his tender mercies. i am a Mormon because i don't want to be anywhere else but with God and my family for all eternity.

How I live my faith

I used to help out with members of the church, keep track of who was doing what and when they where baptized or became a member of the church. i also use to teach youth ages 4-5 and 7-8. What a blessing they were to me and my wife. I believe they taught us more then us them. Now i am currently an active member, planning softball and participating in Sunday school and other activities that the men put on.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Derek
first off i want to make mention, that when married you no longer are single your parnterned in on a unitiy called marraige. So in your marriage selfishness is a killer. Having Christ at the center of your marriage influences you to be a peacemaker as he was. When your spouce does something wrong, insteed of getting upset or irrate. remember what Jesus said to the woman that commited adultery. in short words...go and sin no more. He forgave. The scriptures say in asmuch as they come unto me with a repented heart, i will forgive them and remember the sin no more." When we love and serve our spouces and friends like Christ would then our relationships with them imporve and become stornger. Having this unity provids a confidence that although hard times may come, you can and will make it through it, and find ways to solve day to day problems together. My marriage with my wife is founded in Faith in each other and in Jesus Christ. With this faith the storms or trials and struggles that enter our lives are overcome. I know this to be true and can be effective in your life today. Show more Show less
