Hi I'm Mike

I'm a married father of two. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love spending time with my family. We love our trips from Phoenix to the beach in Southern California, visiting family in Utah and finding new places for our family to experience. I grew up in a military family and had the chance to live in different parts of the US and spent many years living in Germany. Now my job gives me the opportunity to work with people all over the world. These experiences have given me a love and appreciation for the different cultures--and food--that make up our world.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were raised in another faith. When I was seven years old my mother was introduced to the Mormon church by a neighbor in Germany. She felt a deep connection to the things she learned and both my parents became converted. I was just old enough to remember that something had changed, but young enough that being Mormon is really all that I remember. I will be forever grateful to my mother for being open to something new. My own convictions have developed through simple experiences like reading the Book of Mormon and praying to know whether the things written there are true. It is an amazing thing to know that our Father in Heaven really is there for us and that he will give us the guidance we need when we ask.

How I live my faith

For almost four years I had the opportunity to serve as a Sunday School teacher for some of the high school aged kids in my congregation. It is an energizing experience to see these young people practice the things they believe, ask questions and find answers. It also helped me to be disciplined in studying scriptures like the Old and New Testament and the Book of Mormon so that I could be prepared to teach a lesson each Sunday. One of the great things about being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is that everyone gets an opportunity to provide service to the congregation. Those service opportunities have helped me put into practice the things I believe.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The missionaries will help build a connection to the things that you've probably always believed to be true, but didn't really ever hear expressed in terms of a church's doctrine. They will explain the role of Jesus Christ in helping us to return to live with our Father in Heaven. They will talk about the nature of God, the role of prophets past and present and how we as God's children can gain a personal knowledge of what is true and right. Show more Show less
