Hi I'm Stan

I'm a husband, father, and grandfather. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 27 years to the girl of my dreams. We are blessed with four wonderful children, a son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. After 25 years working in my profession, I recently took the step to earn a master's degree. My studies have focused on environmental law, sustainable development, and urban planning. I love all that is nature and the inspiration it gives me. I recognize God's hand in the creation of this world and all its inhabitants. I love people and the cultures of the world. I enjoy learning local history tied to geography and place. Above all, I enjoy my family, and giving service to others.

Why I am a Mormon

My father and mother converted to the church when I was young. I was fortunate to be raised in a loving home where I knew my mother and father loved each other and each of their children. They taught us children the importance of loving and serving others around us. That love in our home was based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. Having this foundation in my childhood, I believed there was a God and had firsthand knowledge of the peace a Christ centered home could give. At age 17, I came to realize I did not know for myself the truthfulness of the gospel message of Jesus Christ. I questioned the things taught me. I was given a challenge to read the Bible and Book of Mormon, then pray and ask God if they are true. After a year of reading the scriptures, I prayed and receive an answer, a strong burning conviction filling my whole being that God has spoken through His prophets of the divinity of Jesus, and that Jesus is the Christ. I felt God's great love for me. That witness given by the Holy Ghost has been my spiritual foundation since. I will always cherish the love that I felt. Prayer, scripture study, and striving to live a Christ centered life has continued a spiritual journey of peace. The Lord is always with me as I live my life in harmony with His teachings. I find great joy and happiness in my choice to follow Christ. I am a Mormon, because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides a fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord speaks through prophets in this day as he has in the past. He provides through priesthood authority the new and everlasting covenant including baptism and eternal marriage. Our Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness provides us a Savior in Jesus Christ, and all that is needed through priesthood covenant to return to His presence. Families are essential to His plan of happiness, and it is within our homes we are given every opportunity to learn to live a Christ centered life.

How I live my faith

In my search for happiness, I have learned through prayer that I am a child of God. There are many occasions my sincere prayers are answered with a sweet peace and comfort, and sometimes the answer comes with power and force through my whole being. These assurances and conviction come through the power of the Holy Ghost. Jesus Christ taught “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14: 26, 27). I experience this peace in my life. God loves us! He lives! Through prayer and study of the scriptures, which include the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon, I know God is my Heavenly Father, and His son Jesus Christ is my Savior. I experience great peace and joy through my faith in Jesus Christ. My faith is strengthened through daily practice and participation in church service. Many find happiness in life short-lived or empty, there is much more to this fleeting happiness. The more I strive to follow Jesus Christ my joy and peace grows through learning to love others unconditionally, accepting them for who they are without judgment, and reaching out to them in service. The message of Jesus Christ is LOVE, and that Christ-like love is the foundation of my lasting peace and joy. My faith in Jesus Christ, as a Mormon, means I seek to follow in the footsteps of Jesus every day and strive to be more kind, loving, forgiving, and reverent. I seek ways that I can help others. The daily choices I make each day will either bring me closer to God or take me from Him. This act of choice and choosing goodness (those things that bring me closer to Christ) is how I live my faith as a Mormon.
