Hi I'm Becky

I'm a proud Washatonian, wife, mother of 6, Grandma. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I are both from Washington. We have been married for 25 years. We enjoyed the first 9 years in Utah, the came home to western WA. We have 6 amazing kids, and are enjoying our growing family as they get married and have their own children. I love being a Grandma! I am a homemaker, and I like it, but I'm not the most domestic type. I love to eat out! I love staying in hotels where they make beds for you! I am very good at finding reasons to put off cleaning, dieting and organizing, but I still and try to do it anyway! I stay busy in church, drive carpools, cheer on soccer and baseball players, and am involved with school activities and scouts. I like water aerobics, reading, and I'm a sucker for classic stories or movies like Jane Eyre and Jane Austin stuff. I enjoy a lot of BBC things. One of the things that has brought me a lot of joy is teaching an early morning religion class to the teenagers in our local congregations. I love teenagers! I love reading, and learning from the holy scriptures, and I love teaching so its a great combination. As you can see, I'm blessed with many things to love. I love my life!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I choose to be associated with, what I consider, the best church ever! I joined the Mormon church in my teens. It truly is the best best decision I've ever made in my life. I've been to many other churches and liked them, but the Mormon church brings me closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ, than other churches I've seen. We focus everthing around Him. I met my husband through my church, and we raise our children in the LDS church. If I didn't believe its teachings, I wouldn't go myself, or trust my children to it's teachings! I believe in Jesus Christ! I believe he is our Savior and Redeemer. I believe in a loving Heavenly Father who blesses us. I believe that the Mormon church is guided by Jesus Christ. He speaks to a prophet, and we can receive our own personal revelation to know truth. I have had very strong experiences in my life to confirm to me that this is truth. If I was to deny these experiences, I would be lying. God knows that I know that this church is true, and that those experiences did happen! The Mormon church gives me opportunities to learn, grow and serve. I go to church with people I am priveledged to call friends. They are my brothers and sisters! These are friendly people who are trying to do their best and are a great blessing to our world! I love the humanitarian services of the church! I love being involved with an group that does so much good all around the world. If, when my life is over, I find out that it wasn't true. All is well because I spent my life with amazing people, led a very healthy lifestyle, and went to an organization that taught me to be good and to do good, and believe in something bigger than myself. I know the church has made me a better person than I would have been without it. I know its true though! I have felt the Holy Ghost testify of it. Through the church, I have come to have a great love for Jesus Christ. That is enough, but I also know me and my family are forever. That brings me great hope

How I live my faith

I get to take part in so many awesome activities! Right now I get to teach teenagers. This year we're learning the Old Testament. We meet at 5:50 in the morning, which isn't easy! The kids amaze me, they actually show up! It's a great way to start the day. We pray together, sing, learn and support each other. T he Mormon congregations are run by volunteers who believe and live their beliefs. I have worked with children, older people. We serve each other, and our communities. One of the hardest things, but most rewarding things I've ever done is saying goodbye to my twin boys as they left for missions for our church. They were gone for two years. We wrote letters, and emails weekly, but it was hard. I knew it would be the best thing for them, and that they were serving the Lord, and they would bless the lives of many people, but as a mom, I missed them! It was so good for them! Our family was so blessed for their service. If I didn't believe in Jesus Christ and this church, selfishly, I would not have done it! It was a sacrifice but so worth it! I live my faith by believing in Jesus Christ, and trying to do what he would have me do. I know I fail everyday, but I have faith in his grace and know that I can repent and keep trying..repeat, and do it again tomorrow

Are Mormons Christians?

If a Christian is someone who believes Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, believes that he died for us on the cross, and was resurrected on the 3 day after being crucified for us, that would be us! If a Christian believes that Jesus Christ has made it possible for us to live with him in heaven, that would be us! If a Christian is someone who believes that Mary, a virgin, was his mother, that would be us! It makes me sad to hear people say Mormons are not Christian. Maybe we don't fall under their definition of Christian, but I don't know any group of people who honor, worship and praise Jesus Christ any more than members of our chuch. We believe in Christ, and we know he is the only way to salvation. We take his name upon us at baptism, and covenant to try and be a good example of what a Christian should be. Show more Show less
