Hi I'm Nancy

I grew up in Idaho Falls. I attended BYU and met my husband, got married, am a mother of seven children and now live in Arizona.

About Me

I am the third of nine children--eight girls and one boy--and I had wonderful parents who lived the principles of the gospel. My father was a dentist and also served as the Bishop of our ward. My mother encouraged all of us to develop our musical abilities because she had always wanted to take piano when she was a young girl but didn't have the opportunity. I took lessons on both the piano and the flute. I attended BYU where I majored and received a degree in Math Education. I met my husband there and we were married after my sophomore year. Once he graduated with his MBA degree, we worked for a healthcare company for the first thirteen years of our marriage. My husband was able to start his own business after those years and he has enjoyed farming and doing real estate developmen. He served as a Stake President for eight and a half years. We have seven children and nineteen grandchildren and our family is so important to us. We are fortunate that they all live in our same area. I have loved being a "stay at home mom" and being able to encourage music and other educational opportunities. My husband and I served as Mission President and Wife and our children supported us greatly during those three years. We love seeing them raising their own children and teaching them the principles of the Gospel. I love to play sports, like tennis and golf, and I really enjoy sewing my own clothes. Music is another fun activity that we enjoy doing as a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because my parents taught the Gospel in our home. I had wonderful friends in my ward that I associated with. During my high school years, I was able to attend "release time" seminary, and I served on the Seminary Council during my junior year. When I attended BYU, I had some excellent religion classes that strengthened my testimony. I was also called to be the Stake Relief Society President in a student stake and this calling prepared me for future callings. I have loved taking advantage of Education Week and Women's Conferences over the years. Even the "Know Your Religion" classes were great to attend. My husband and I served as a Mission President and Wife for three years and I gained a strong testimony that I was part of the Lord's work. My callings and opportunities to serve in the Church have helped me to continue to develop my talents as well as my testimony. We have received many blessings through raising a family, paying tithes and offerings, and serving others. All of these blessings have brought peace and joy into my life.

How I live my faith

I have tried to be obedient to the commandments of our Heavenly Father all of my life. I have always studied the scriptures and prayed regularly. I have taken advantage of attending the temple frequently. Over the years, I have had many Church callings which have taught me how to speak, teach, and organize myself. These opporunities to serve in the Church have helped me to live my faith better. I have tried to be of service to my family and to others around me. I have appreciated being part of the women's organization called Relief Society in our Church because it has given many opportunities to serve. My husband and I have also been able to be part of several humanitarian endeavors that have blessed our lives. Being a mother has been the best preparation to live my faith. Helping children to develop their talents and their faith is a rewarding but difficult task. However, it has given me a better understanding of our Heavenly Father's desire for each of His children.
