Hi I'm Kathy

I grew up in Northern California, but now we're in Washington. I have 5 kids, 2 daughters-in-law and 3 grandkids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have five children. Two are college graduates, both married, one is in his junior year at BYU (he's engaged), one is on a mission and I have one daughter left at home who is in her senior year at high school. I have two beautiful granddaughters and a grandson who is due any day. My husband is a construction worker and I work at an elementary school with special needs chiildren. We live in the northwest and love the green and the beauty that surrounds us. I especially love the coast and can sit for hours listening to the sounds of the ocean. I love to be involved with my family no matter what we do. I love Sunday night dinners with the grandkids and love vacations to see my family members who don't live so close.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always grown up in the gospel, in fact, my father was bishop of our ward when I was in my teens. I think I have always had a testimony of the gospel, but there were definitely times it was weak. I remember going to girls camp and feeling such a strong feeling of warmth and desire to have that spirit I felt there stay with me. I learned that even having grown up in the church it's necessary to ask for yourself to find out if the church is true, if Joseph Smith really asked which church to join, and if the Book of Mormon is true. A testimony doesn't just happen. You have to work at it. You have to put in practice the things you learn and find out if it's true. I have learned everything I know by taking one step at a time, praying, searching, pondering, and feeling. I feel God's love for me when he answers my prayers, and He always does. It's especially amazing to me when my smallest requests are answered. He really does love me and wants my happiness. I am His daughter. I know that being married and having children that it's such a perfect, beautiful blessing to know they can be with me forever. The church brings me much happiness and joy.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith first at home. I start and end my day with prayer. I also read my scriptures each day, at least for a few minutes. We have Family Home Evening each Monday night. I love Monday nights! It's so fun and wonderful to share the night with my husband and kids as we learn a lesson and have fun! There's nothing better than turning off the TV and our outside lives and just have fun together. I also get to work with the teenage girls and boys in our area. I get to help plan each Wednesday activity and help out each Sunday with their lessons. Once in a while I get to teach and I love that! I can't get enough of being with the teenagers in our area. They are strong and courageous and beautiful! They try so hard to be like Christ. They dress modestly, are kind and inviting, they are excited about what they believe and share it with their friends.
