Hi I'm Mike

I am the 4th of 5 children. I have a beautiful wife and a little dog. I work at a grocery store. I'm a Latter-Day Saint.

About Me

My absolute favorite thing to do (and what I do every chance I get) is to be with my wife. We like going on trips, trying out new restaurants, and spending time together. We don't have any kids yet, but we do have one little dog named Oliver. My wife and I both attended and graduated from Arizona State University. I was fortunate enough to get a job right after college and we feel extremely blessed for that. Currently, I am in the management training program with a local grocery store and I thoroughly enjoy it. I like to read, learn random facts about all kinds of things, and I am fluent in Spanish - I learned while I served a mission in the Dominican Republic.

Why I am a Mormon

My dad was baptized a member of the Mormon church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) when he was about 17 years old, and my mom was baptized when she was eight. My parents always took my siblings and I to church every week and we loved it. However, there came a time in my life when I prayed and asked God for myself if this is the true church. When I was 18, I was taking a class to help me prepare to serve a full time mission. The teacher instructed the class that if we did not have a testimony or knowledge that the Book of Mormon is true and that this is the true church, that we needed to pray and ask Heavenly Father for an answer to these questions. A scripture in the Book of Mormon (Moroni 10:3-5) says that if we ask God if the book is true, then He will tell us if it is or not. It's that simple! I took the time to pray and asked Heavenly Father the questions I wanted answered. A couple of weeks later, after I was in my missionary prep. class, and I had a very powerful, peaceful, and comforting feeling come over me. I knew then and I still know today that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord's church. I know that anybody who sincerely prays and asks Heavenly Father the same question, He will give them the same answer.

How I live my faith

I have the opportunity to be a home teacher with another member of the church. Each month, he and I visit several different families and share messages with them about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also lead a group of about 20 men that all visit their own families. Each Sunday at church we meet together and learn about how to have more faith, how to have love in our homes, how to be a better husband and father, and many other things.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon was written by many different prophets that lived on the American continent from about 600 B.C. until about 400 A.D. All of the writings of these prophets were compiled into one book by a prophet named Mormon. Many hundreds of years later, another prophet named Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon from the language it was written in into English. Show more Show less
