Hi I'm Ben

I was a construction worker now I'm a salesman. I'm a hiker. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 29 years old and I worked as a construction worker for 7 years and I loved it. Work got slow and I became a salesmen for medical equipment which was a big change in my life but I surprisingly love it just as much. I have a son who is almost 2 and having him in our home has been great and a lot of fun at the same time. I enjoy the outdoors, hiking, backpacking, and just being outside enjoying life. I also like staying busy and working.

Why I am a Mormon

It would be easy to say that I am a Mormon because I was born into the church but that isn't why I have continued to be a Mormon. Through experiences in my life I have learned that the things that my parents and leaders taught were true and if I live my life a certain way I am happier. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true as I feel of the joy and happiness that it brings me while I am living my life the way Christ taught us to live. It brings joy to me when serving others and seeing how I can help others including my own family members. Having the gospel in my life is a great tool to keep myself on a good path with good direction that brings me closer to my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

In the church we have many different callings and all are equally important as without one calling it would put more responsibility on other people so we are all needed to help the church run well. For quite a few years I helped out with the scouting program and I loved it, it was a lot of fun. We would try to teach the boys how to be good scouts and then we would go camping with them monthly and they could test their skills. Some would learn faster than others and some would goof off but they were all good kids and it was a lot of fun. I now don't work as much with the scouts and I mainly work with the families in the ward. When I was a scout they taught us a little slogan "Do a good turn daily" and one year at scout camp there was a man that was selling these little carvings. My friend and I liked the carvings and so we decided to hike over to where the old man was and buy a couple of his carvings. He pulled us aside from the other people that were around and he said we could either purchase his carving or we could promise that we would take that slogan serious and we would do some form of service everyday for the rest of our lives. It wouldn't have to be anything big but just the consistency of doing good deeds for other people. We both choose to take his carving and do some form of service everyday. Since that time I have looked at Christ's life and that is exactly what his life was, service and I have noticed that I have enjoyed the service that I have been able to give to others as I have tried to follow our Savior's example. I haven't done anything outstanding or great but by small little acts we can maybe make someones day a little better.
