Hi I'm Margie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a daughter, born of goodly parents. I am a sister, one of nine children. I am a mother of four amazing children. I am a grandmother of seven sweet and wonderful children. I am a woman, a daughter of my Heavenly Father, with many sweet and bitter experiences. I am proud to be living in the United States, with the privilege of liberty and democracy. I am proud to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where I have been given many opportunities to serve and grow. I love music; it has been an essential component in my life. It uplifts and carries me. I love to express myself through playing the piano, singing, and conducting a choir.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ my entire life. Although I was born in the Church and never doubted it was true, it was still necessary for me to have my own conversion. I had several birth defects, one of which left me without one of my hips. During my childhood and youth I had too many operations to count. During my senior year in high school I was in a body cast, from above the waist to my toes, for more than four months. During this time I had many opportunities to contemplate my station in life. The scriptures, ancient and modern, have helped me understand that my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are aware of me personally, and that Christ suffered all things so that He may succor those who are in need. Through efficacious prayer, I have come to know that the Lord loves me. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the restored Church, patterned after His ancient church, with Jesus Christ himself as its Head. He has given us prophets, apostles, scriptures, the true priesthood of the living God, and revelation – for the whole world as well as personal revelation for each of us. I pray daily, because I know I will receive answers to my prayers. This is personal revelation. I attend church so I may partake of the Sacrament and renew my baptismal covenants with Him, and so I can worship Him. I also worship in a temple for further inspiration and guidance and participate in ordinances for those who have died. The gift of the Holy Ghost has been given to me that I may be comforted and inspired. I love my husband, to whom I have been married and sealed for time and for eternity. This ordinance is not found anywhere but in the true church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

When I was thirteen, I was asked to play the organ for Sunday School. Although I had played the piano for a few years, I had never played the organ or a hymn. My mother taught me that I can do anything the Lord asked of me. So I took organ lessons. Learning hymns came easily. Throughout my youth and adulthood I have played the piano and organ, and have conducted congregations and choirs. Music is the universal language, which brings souls to God. Because I have disabilities and physical limitations, there are many things that my body just cannot do. I have been able to bless many lives through singing, playing, and teaching music. I love to serve others as Jesus did. I love that I have been given many opportunities to be a leader and teacher in many capacities of children, youth, and adults. Working in a high school band and a university School of Music gave me the opportunity to work with students from around the globe, as well as many opportunities to help others understand my faith.
